I enjoy SAO but isn't this just the plot of the first SAO movie?

Well, I had a similar thought...but he can do a lot more with a novel series than being confined to two hours. Cool

What are the odds of a fan translation and an official one sounding just as pretty? Because I have read both.

lol yeah, I was gonna say. DBZ is one of the most successful manga series in history. Of all the possible examples out there to choose from... and they pick Toriyama.

In fairness, IIRC a lot of the motivation behind ending Dr. Slump was that he was struggling to keep coming up with new gag plots on a near-weekly basis, and he and Torishima figured an adventure series with longer story arcs might be more manageable. So maybe you could consider Dragon Ball his "comfort zone" after all?

(I think it was volume 17 of Dr. Slump that made me think "This is just a straight-up Dragon Ball arc.")

I mean, considering his infamous memory, anything with a narrative focus is well outside Toriyama's "comfort zone." What he feels most comfortable doing is clearly short one-off gag comics and character design work.

Given how woefully ignorant Kawahara has seemed to be of basic game design tenets, mayhaps he should give some other concept a try instead?

I was talking about his post Dragon Ball work.

Care to elaborate? I’m fairly certain none of the manga he he made post-Dragon Ball were intended to be anything more than short stories.

When I read the headline, part of me kinda hoped he'd try to leave his comfort zone and write something NOT about MMO. Ah well.

The Isolator isn't about an MMO, so he has done it before. I am kinda surprised though since the last time he talked about writing something new he said he wanted to write a romance and this doesn't seem to be one.

The premise talks about the MC dealing with his female classmate being a monster so maybe there will be a romance portion?

Kind of reminds me of how other than the Isolator Reki's works tend to have the leads confess to teach other in the first volume lol.

People loooooove being jerks to fans of Kawahara. Which is plain immature and uncalled for.

Here is a hint Accel World Sword Art Online and The Isolator have different translators yet read the same.

A Light Novel title that's not 15 pages long? What a rarity. All jokes aside, wonder what Kawahara will cook up in this new LN.

Yeah, and I hate them all.

But they pretty much got the opposite response to what they wanted. Laughing

If you truly hate something....calling it to people's attention is only going to increase its popularity.
