Virtual Star Hasseigaku from Revolutionary Girl Utena -I watch the video almost everyday; nice composition and lyrics with so much symbolism and I love the animation, shows how the budget constraint can give room to so much creativity.

GetBackers's 'Changin'. The animation is hip and spunky (Chibi Ban and Chibi Ginji can dance! Anime smile), there's a nice Kazuki joke in there, the song is catchy...it can put a smile on your face...

...but not as much as 'My Omelette', lol...

The best ever has to be The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia trying to learn the (male) dance part right now, damn its hard!

As yes, yes yes to Detective Loki, Wolfs Rain and Gankutsuou

If I was going to mention a few of my own, I think I'd go with Peacemaker, because the song is great, and the animation is pretty cute, too. Also, purely for song reasons, would be Escaflowne. Oh, and Tenjo Tenge, because that "puzzle" effect is really quite cool.

When I think of the best ending credits I always say Outlaw star's first ending theme. I remember watching it on toonami years ago. For me it reminds me of my childhood days when i was in the fifth grade.
Also for some reason i liked Cyborg 009's ending theme. Of course im refering to the 2001 version that aired on toonami a few years back.

I actually much prefer the second ending for Black Cat. Almost every image in the ED really stirs me and the song has such a sad yearning sound to it. I love the shot of Eve with the falling black feathers that turn white. The line "I'm completely wrapped around you so..." to Train staring up into the snow by himself, followed by "quietly the powder-like snow is building up" to the image of Saya presented like an old film at the very ending hits me every time I watch it. It is all so emotional I wish the series would have captured this mood (like Wolf's Rain) more.

actually, i love the Black Lagoon closing credit. The show was always full of excitement, but yet the closing credit was so soft as Revy just walks. Then finally at the end the drums kicks in in a very killer fashion. I just really liked it, but it threw me a curvball because the show is normally all action no sadness.

Kino's Journey: The song, Beautiful World, is so soft and gentle, it is like listening to light rain. Easily one of my most favourite songs. The visuals suit the music perfectly, not flashy, but quiet and unobtrusive. Watching it is like falling asleep (the sensation of utter peace, not complete boredom).

I actually really enjoy "Shiki no Uta" by Minmi, which is the ending to Samurai Champloo. If I feal like relaxing, I'll just put that DVD in, skip right to the ending, and lay there in my bed, fealing really zen.

Kenshin: Tsuiohuken

I love the string quartet. It has more emotion than every other anime end credit song combined.

Second that, when i first saw it I thought i felt it was a clever way of enhancing revy's character. It screams tradgedy in my opinion. It had a very meloncholy tinge to it.

Fly me to the moon from Eva, suits the series in a strange way that i cant decribe. I cant place my finger on it but again it seems to perfectly suit the atmoshpere of the series. Its a bit surreal along side eva.

Gravity by maya sakamoto is another excellent song. I heard about this song before the series. I still haven't got around to watching wolfsrain. Am i missing out? [/quote]

Very much so. I'd consider it a masterpiece by any definition.

"Gravity" is definitely a great ending song, but I can't in good conscience choose anything other than "The Real Folk Blues" as my favorite closer. The bass work in that song is just...unreal.

I always liked Great Teacher Onizuka's Closing Credits, all of the ones, they switch i around a bit, and i find all of them to be my favorites. I also like the 2nd intro credits (what are those really called) song in the show as well... but i must say, all the ones folks have mentioned here i'd have to agree are some of my favorites as well... Wink

While it's not the best ending of all time, I have really been into the second ending of the first season of xxxholic of late. There's just something mesmerizing about watching those two girls air guitar.

Nana Kitade's Ending song to FMA also ranks very high on my list, but that's more weighing just the strength of the song, not necessarily the entire package.
