I hear ya. There are so many titles out there that almost make me start twitching from how badly they mutilate basic English structures. What really gets me are the titles that just ThRoW cApItaL leTtErS everywhere, a la CLAMP, or those teeth-grating random semicolons in that series of visual novels. Ugh. The best part is how so many people out there will absolutely crucify local distributors for a flubbed line, while blissfully ignoring the fact that the original franchise butchers their own language all over the place. |

Some of my favorite weirdo titles are
"The Devil is a Part Timer". The devil has a part time job? "Strawberry Panic". Who the hell is panicking over strawberries? "Candy Boy". I didn't see no boy selling or finding some candies. "Girls Bravo". Huh? Is Johnny Bravo involved in this one or something? "Daphne in the Brilliant Blue". What's so brilliant about blue? "Sakura Trick". What trick is Sakura pulling? "Paprika". I didn't see no paprika here. "The Third". What happened to the second and first? "Jinki Extend". How do you extend a "jinki"? "Plastic Memories". How are memories made from plastic? "Angel Beats." Angels are beating? What? "Destiny of the Shrine Maiden". Why not just call it "Priestesses of the Godless Month"? "Eat Man". Who is eating? Is it Pac Man? Or some kind of superhero? "Fate/Stay Night". Is "fate" spending the night with you?? ".Hack//SIGN". Is this some kind of code?? "C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control". What kind of "soul money" is C? Wellll...Boogiepop Phantom's Japanese title is longer, "ブギーポップは笑わない Boogiepop Phantom" (Boogiepop wa Wararanai, the title of the light novels). And Boogiepop Phantom is the name of a character in the show, an apparition created by the the events of that fateful night who believes itself to be Boogiepop but renames itself out of respect for the genuine article. It was Phantom who hid the evolved children, Boogiepop who got stabby. |

Answer: B. He eats metal.
Robotic "shells", yes. (And this is the reason why cheap gags don't really work with core geeks, who make it their job to know everything.  )

Yes, that's exactly the premise. I always thought Cowboy Bebop, Bubblegum Crisis, Blue Gender and Neon Genesis Evangelion were some pretty out-there titles when I first started watching anime.  Now they seem downright quaint.
The odd periods in titles drive me batty, but at least they usually come at the end. But why is that comma after "more" in "Diabolik Lovers More, Blood"? |

For instance: "And Yet the Town Moves" I'm getting Spongebob vibes from this. "Honey and Clover". I don't think you should mix those two if you're making food. "Maria Holic". Maria is an alcoholic? A workaholic? "Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl". When did we get from that to this? "Dance in the Vampire Bund". Why are we dancing in a bund? As others have already pointed out, the joke doesn't work when a number of the examples actually make perfect sense. I'll explain (or at least give logical guess for) some:
The show is filled with girls, and "bravo" is a word used for celebrating something. Therefore, it essentially means "Yay, girls!"
The story takes place on a flooded Earth, so the "Brilliant Blue" is obviously the ocean.
The original manga was simply titled Jinki, before getting continued in the titular Jinki Extend. Therefore, the story was "extended" with the continuation, which is what the anime adaptation is named after.
While Bolt Crank is not a "superhero" he does have the ability to eat anything non-organic & then reproduce it fully intact. Therefore, "Eat-Man" is a fitting nickname, even though it's never used at all in the entire manga (though the first anime series does actually use the term at the very end).
Okay, this poster just has to be trolling, because this is one of the blatantly obvious "hidden meaning" titles ever in anime & manga. |

It's explained in the last episode that spoiler[Otonashi (the main character) and Kanade (the "angel") share a single beating heart, because after Otonashi died his heart was transplanted into Kanade's body.] Once you know that, it's pretty clear what "Angel Beats" means. |

Well, Ichigo's hair is naturally orange/red, which is said to occur if you actually used bleach on your hair to turn it blonde and then went out in the sun too long. Early in the manga a blonde-haired classmate actually accuses Ichigo of trying to "steal" his hair style. There's also the case that when a soul reaper destroys a hollow, their souls are purified of any sins they commuitted while a monster. And there's "Hollow-Ichigo", which is basically Ichigo with pure white skin, hair, and clothes. As for AoT. There is an early line where Eren says something about "this will be humany's counter-attack (against the titans)", so until recent developments, I always assumed it was in reference to that. |

If you want real nonsense titles try looking at a lot of hentai english titles. Have fun with that.
