That's the site where all the cool Hatsune Miku videos are coming from. Which I really like. I buy Miku / Vocaloids from Hear Japan and the DVD of the last 39's Givings Day Concert at CD Japan.
Not just Miku, but all the vocaloid seem to get uploaded to their site before ending up on Youtube. This could also to be in readyness for the anticipated Crypton Future Media's release of the English version of Hatsune Miku.

Hmm. Never seen an official stream with good quality from them. Which means I'd be after their otaku entries, which is usually submitted to their Japanaise site in Japanese. In other words, possibility of me profit, 1%. Unless they plan on some partnership with anime committees, which is unlikely considering the number of streaming we already got over here. Besides, what's the likelihood of this site making enough profit in Ads overseas? At least compared to an actual site overseas. There's also the possibility of them blocking most of its stuff to Japan in case they wanna invest in overseas anime streaming, and that'd of course result in very low Japanese traffic.

I'm going to make it my goal to put as many "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" in the comments of random videos as I can.

Gotta have the authentic Nico Nico Douga experience.

LOL, this!

And that would make searching for stuff easier, although I always manage to find what I'm looking for with a shaky knowledge of katakana and hiragana so... O.o

I thought NND was the Japanese equivalent of Youtube, but exclusively for Japanese use? If they go and create an English site as well won't that just compete against Youtube?

Looks pretty fake to me.

Is there any proof it's really an official English version? Like you know... a link/comment/press release from Nico Video themselves?

All of the other official Nico Video sites are as follows:

Spain - http://es.nicovideo.jp
Germany - http://de.nicovideo.jp
Taiwan - http://tw.nicovideo.jp

They all look the same, follow the same address structure and don't look like they've been designed by a high school student phishing for people's account details.

Couple of points:
1)How would they expect to ever be successful in the US if they used that layout for their website? .com is the easiest phrase to remember.
2)What would a person be able to gain from faking this?

http://www.networksolutions.com/whois-search/niconico.com

Both are by niwango, so that seems okay, unless someone registered pretending to be niwango, which would be a problem.

Take any nicovideo.jp video, and change
www.nicovideo.jp
to video.niconico.com and you can access the video in the English interface

Example: Bad Apple--
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8628149
Becomes
http://video.niconico.com/watch/sm8628149

While videos uploaded in the English interface don't use the sm[number] database. Not sure if it's accessible in the Japanese site.

The login was listed as super secure by Firefox as well...which isn't something scammers usually do on their sites lol. It's legit.

hmm.. you can't use your niconico.com login on nicovideo.jp and barely any of the JP videos are actually available, unlike how it is for German, Spanish, Taiwanese users who also get to enjoy this lol

though to be honest I feel it's just as well to keep us separated.
