My condolences to him and his family. Such a tragedy. I loved his work in Samurai Champloo. I wish Adult Swim can pay homage to him.

Man, why can't pathetic stars like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent and all these low lives just go to hell? Why do good stars like Nujabes and Michael Jackson have to go?

I can't believe this, I feel really crappy about this and I haven't felt this toward any other musician. I really enjoyed all his works. Its sad not too many people know this musician for what talent he has but I guess that's what he intended when he decided to make Underground Hip-Hop. I wish all of his work would come to the states but it only looks like the samurai champloo ost will be the close we'll get

Either way I'm actually really sad to hear this news and I hope he lived a good life.

I'm just utterly shocked. Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul are two of my most-listened two albums. His best stuff was on those, Samurai Champloo was a tip of the ice berg of his music.

And stuff.

Any of you guys look up his work outside of Champloo?

Dude wasn't just an anime composer but probably one of the better rap composers around today.
Yeah his tracks on Samurai Champloo were very good, but it was the Jazz influenced Hip-Hop sound of his albums that really made me appreciate this man as a producer. He put out a sound not many producers were using, not relying on a pounding bass line but instead using beautiful keys, strings and brass arrangements.

I feel bad as I usually silently roll my eyes at this kind of news, but this one I feel.

The article and some of the post make it seem like he was the only composer on Samurai Champloo, but he was one of the four artist that contributed to the soundtrack. Not trying to be negative, I just like when these things are correct.

@darksharingan

While I don't like the artist you listed either, there's no need to blast them here. Just show your respect toward Nujubes and put your negativity elsewhere.

The Samurai Champloo score is the best anime soundtrack out there.

This news is devastating to me. Nujabes was a legend.

He left us too early, he did.
So, let him live on within us, within his work.
Rest, weary soldier, sleep deeply.
We shall carry you forward in what you left behind.

WTF. I couldn't believe the headline when I skimmed pass it.

I'm a fan of all his stuff and was eagerly awaiting more. This is horrible news.

Oh my god! This is so depressing.

Nujabes was the only one who actually got me into Japanese rap and such, like the type of music he wrote for Samurai Champloo.

And Samurai Champloo is one of my favorite animes of all time. I send out my condolences to his family and friends.

The irony that I was listening to the SC soundtrack yesterday....
I'm not even a big fan of rap/hip-hop but yet I loved the stuff this guy worked on.

RIP Anime cry

so tragic and so young.

He single handedly turned me on to Japanese Hip-Hop (I'm not even into other hip-hop at all) and when we went to Japan last year I bought every album I could get my hands on that he produced (since I couldn't buy them all in the US) spent a crapload of money, but it was hands down the best money I spent that entire trip.

I can't accurately describe how sad I am to hear this. It's outside of the realm of anime - I just feel like the music world has lost someone who was in the process of redefining the standard.

RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

Damn this is awful, how could this happen so soon? I loved his work, not just on Samurai Champloo but in his other projects as well. I own most of his albums and he was hands down my favorite hip-hop artists. I was convinced that Nujabes would be the next big sound across the world. He truly died before his time. Still to this day no other hip-hop album moves me the way Metaphorical Music did.

Also I hope those unreleased tracks are everything we all wish them to be.
