They aren't "damning". dtm42 just really hates SAO. He got into fights with me and Bugnin a lot in our first SAO thread. 
.....speaking of which, where the heck is Bugnin anyway? I thought he'd jump on this wagon immediately. o.o |

Come now. We went through over two hundred pages together, so I'd appreciate if you didn't accuse me of things that you know aren't true. My posts in that thread were exceedingly detailed and I laid out exactly what I thought was wrong with SAO. To claim that I just somehow hated the show for no reason is so out of this world I can only chortle at the absurdity of it. |

Okay then, if you think that my criticisms of SAO are unjustified or flat-out wrong then that's fine. I obviously don't agree with you - and have in the past provided what I believe is sufficient evidence to back up what I said - but you are perfectly entitled to your opinion. But claiming that I just hate on the show for no reason is not an opinion, it is a factually incorrect and objectively invalid statement. You may think I'm overreacting, and maybe I am, but I really don't like it when people slander me with lies that they know are untrue. |

∩(゜へ゜)∩ ......not that I want to.....I've had SAO fights with others SO many times.....it's just like "ugh don't wanna" after three incidents. But I think the exchanges between dtm42 and I have been "civil" compared to.....well, others.....on other sites. But of course, ANN has its own rules. To be honest, I'm grateful that you mods have rules like this, nobann. I've seen it get out of hand, elsewhere. I've seen it get really ugly. I know you're just trying to protect feelings and keep this forum pleasant and drama-free. It's all good. |

I'm really not looking to start a fight about SAO. I am well aware all of this is just opinions. While I do really like SAO, I also want to hear the negatives with it as well. I believe in and respect everyone's opinions or else I wouldn't be here asking for them. I want to be able to understand every view point because they are all valid.
Kirito as a character portrayed in the anime I would say has Marry Sue qualities, though not to any severe extreme. I imagine part of this is due to the narrative difference between the anime and novels. Kirito's struggles are made much more clear having his narration as a guide so not having that leads me to that conclusion. Things like that are not really what I'm looking for because it is super dependent on your view point. The biggest thing that I've read and agree with on SAO here is the two "attempted rape" scenes with Asuna. There is no doubt in my mind now that those scenes had the fanservice played up on them and that is horrible, and I did not think that way in the 6 times I watched SAO. With all that said, I still like SAO and I don't believe that will change, but I still want to understand more of the negatives so please hit me with more of what you got. Bad attempted rape scenes and Marry Sue can't be all there is right? |

I recommend you read this thread. Yes, it's epically long - the longest discussion thread here on ANN, in fact - but it does go into minute detail. If you really want to understand what people thought was wrong with the show then that thread will indubitably educate you. |

I'm looking to discuss this topic and I do not believe I will find a discussion of the kind I'm looking for there. While I haven't taken a look at it, I'm assuming more than just the negatives of SAO would be there. Thank you for linking me to that, but I am choosing to discuss this here. If you would like to contribute at all though, would be happy to hear your take dtm42.
