YES! Hopefully they do something cool when they're done with these damn Eva movies. Although I think they're just doing these movies to secure good funds for the new studio.
As for this news post, I kinda find it funny that they have male underwear for this show with the word "panty and stocking" on them.

Let's be blunt while Hideaki Anno may just have been one of the founders of Studio Gainax, the entire studio takes after him more than the other founders.

Let's be blunt while Hideaki Anno may just have been one of the founders of Studio Gainax, the entire studio takes after him more than the other founders. |
In some aspects they do (Aim for the Top! 2, Gurren Lagann in some ways, maybe FLCL?). In many aspects they don't (Mahoromatic, This Ugly Yet Beautiful World, He is My Master, Shikabane Hime, Melody of Oblivion, etc.)
I see where you're coming from though. I can still very faintly feel the spirit of the Gainax that I used to love in some of their stuff, but it's fading.
And just to make it clear, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade that enjoys this show since I know there are many of you out there. Just voicing opinions here.

It's a well-known fact that Gainax's manga adaptations and studio teamups(ie, those 5 anime you put) totally stink and their anime originals (the four at the beginning) that don't involve previous materials are where the real Gainax shines through. Gainax isn't really that great at adapting manga in my opinion.
However, the one manga adaptation I did like was Hanamaru Kindergarten. That wasn't too bad at all.

I never really understood where this idea that Gainax is losing it's touch is coming from. I mean their last great work was in 2007 which frankly isn't that long ago. I would say that Gainax needs to do a better job picking up better manga to make adaptations of since He is my master isn't exactly the equal of say Fullmetal Alchemist.

What's left to lose after He is My Master? At least Panty and & Stocking can be considered progressive in certain ways that we can hope are not frequently imitated.

And that is why you don't see these for anyone above as that is who these are for, which makes it even more bazarre as P&S is clearly not a prepubscent show.
