No, you're missing a more fundamental reason; the company angst most likes to keep is its own. Just as drops of water bead together, so angst finds its compatriots and unites.

Oh, would have actually bought a CD, until I read "in Japan". Damn.

Lol it's so ... bland ... it's like a little emo Gundam. You can sort of imagine this perticular Gundam sitting in a corner in a hoodie trying to slit it's metal writst's to that "crawling in my skin" track. It's almost cute. I want one.

Kinda ironic, since the anime community made me HATE this band. Same with Evanescence.

Sellout? Oh, please. LP has been a commercial band sicne Hybrid Theory. If anything, their sales aren't as good anymore.
Also, for the 'generic band' commenters, I advise you to listen to their latest record, A Thousand Suns, and I assure you it's anything but. Same goes for you 'angsty-band' mongerers.
The Gundam looks awesome btw.

Linkin Park sucks. I've hated them since their first single. I still can't believe Styles of Beyond collaborated with these idiots.
The art of them dressed up in Gundam uniforms is also utterly ridiculous. What's hilarious here is that the personas persented in Gundam are for more believable than LP's "we're 35 and rich but still have teen angst" BS.

You all do realize that this is probably along the lines of one of those models that they expect the buyers to paint, ya? They do have those out there, and I can't imagine a series like gundam would sponsor a gundam model completely clad in gray. Did any of you read the Gundam origination manga? they HAD to add color cause they didn't think it'd sell otherwise.
That being said, i don't know if that's the case or not, but that's at least what I'd assume.
*edit*
I take back this statement. I just read LP picked the color scheme.
Being a fan of both Gundam and LP, I'm a little disappointed that the suck at picking a good looking color scheme, lol I agree with the gradient comment on the shield, tho!

a few may remember the second album of linkin park, reanimation including mainly some ( i think pretty good, and partially even better than the original) remixes and coorporations with other artists
this album featured al lot of artworks done by several members of the band, i.e. gundam style robots dedicated to the several bandmembers and a very nice web toolkit
