Am I the only one who thought the first part of the headline might be about Viz reviving Animerica magazine?
Also, is that doujinshi as in "porn" or just the more broad "fan-made comic"? |

Reaper gI already answered this well, but yes, doujinshi does NOT mean porn. I remember reading that only about 30-40% of the doujinshi sold at Comiket is R18. And Takeshi's "Witches of the Sphinx" is an all-ages doujinshi.
I got the 1st volume of "Witches of the Sphinx" and loved it, so I'm looking forward to the 2nd. I just hope they end up distributing it somewhere that offers SAL shipping...MangaPal sure was expensive, orz. |

Yeah, I had to read the title of the article twice and still had to click on it just to make sure it wasn't a typo. So what the heck is "Animerca" supposed to mean? I'm guessing it's a portmanteau of some sort.

However it gets here legally, I love it. Now if they'll just publish what they translate, and can get more people into light novels. (Long-term plot to get Baccano! and Durarara!! novels licensed)

The Japanese name is アニメルカ (Animeruka) and is not intended to sound at all like "America." Supposedly it's not a mistake that a Japanese people would make.

I thought this was about Animerica too. That magazine was such a huge influence in getting me into anime. As for Animerca, I am not familiar with it, but will check it out when the international version is released.
