Nicely said, Miagi, and I think we can add Chobits to this category. On the flip side, Cowboy Bebop: Blue, KareKano and the Evangelion Symphony all pretty much dominate. It's hard to hear "Adieu" or "Kanon D-dur" and not be moved. |

A lot of songs from the Cowboy Bebop OST's tend to move me, such as:

I really love listen the sountracks of:
1.- Inuyasha (Oh my God I love everything of my cute puppyboy!!!) 2.- Karekano Act 3.0 (Shiru Sagisu its a genius!) 3.- Chobits ( K-taro Takanami is a great composer!) 4.- Rouruni Kenshin (wonderful, really wonderful!) See you gang!

I really liked the Escalowne Movie soundtrack as well as the Jin Roh soundtrack. I just like Mizoguchi's composing I guess. I Liked The Record of Lodoss Wars soundtracks as well. For a non-orchestral soundtrack, the Cowboy Bebop and .hack sountracks.

I'm starting to get into the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex OST. I feel it has a nice feeling of ambiance to it, kind of like .hack//SIGN, but it has that Yoko Kanno twist. I absolutely LOVE the intro.

During the summer I happened apon a site selling legit CD's of Metal Gear Solid 2. Harry Gregson Williams showed me the meaning of what a score for an action movie should be. Simply blew me away. I was expecting the midi music again from the first one but I got a blown out classical/techno mixure that reminded me of why I liked that game so much in the first place. |

I really like Yoko Kanno's scores for Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain (the latter moreso than the former). Inuyasha also had some beautiful music and so did The Big O.

the boogiepop phantom soundtrack: moving from relaxing ethereal music to industrial techno might seem weird, but it worked for me!
the ah megamisama soundtracks: in particular, the instrumental compositions on any of the albums are absolute masterpieces.....and you can't go wrong with the great Nobuo Uematsu (of Final Fantasy fame), who did the movie's music..... |

Hmm...well, I like a lot of the .hack songs ((mostly from sign). Obsession, The Land of Twilight, Twilight Sea (from the OVA) and Emerald Green (The end of dusk). I also like The Real Folk Blues and Call Me Call Me from Cowboy Bebop, but my favorite song from the Cowboy Bebop universe is What Planet is This from the movie. It also accompanies my favorite scene in the whole movie...
Oh yeah, I also like I am a Pioneer from Tenchi Muyo! and Love will Leave you Crying from Tenchi Universe. I'd buy some soundtracks, but I have little enough money as it is to buy anime dvds... |

Probobly the most moving song would be "Voices" from Macross Plus. A couple of songs from Wolf's Rain were too, and regardless of peoples opinions on the movie, the theme to Escaflowne the Movie was great.
I don't know if it really fits, but since some other people said it, FLCL is a classic soundtrack. |

Pacific Pikachu, you have excellent taste.
yoko kanno does everything she tries well...jazz, choral, electronica, latin...she's amazing. i highly recommend anything by taku iwasaki as well...the witch hunter robin soundtracks have some stunning pieces that are choral/orchestral against trip-hop bass beats. he also did the kenshin ova soundtracks, which are the best things ever. ichiko hashimotos soundtracks (rahxephon) are also really, really original. mmm. |

I recently made a mix disk for some writing I'm doing,occasionally I find myself sitting in stunned silence--I think that's moving the soul.
Beautiful, Yet Sadly Painful fight, Last Battle, Dragons of Earth Suite (X vol 2) Through the Years and far Away (Voices of a distant Star) Omega Blue, Mameshiba, Cloe (Arjuna) Need more Yoko Kanno Free Bird, Blue Flow (Haibane) Chivarly Spirits, Over the Sky, Brave Willing (Last Exile) Several tracks off Mononoke Hime, but because my Japanese is not that good don't ask the titles.
