Either Japan is ready for war or they don't understand the concept of "you overdid it, it's not cool anymore".

Now all we need is a thunderstorm to bring it to life.

One of these days they'll catch people off guard when the news says, "not only is it 1/1, but it's fully functional and battle ready."

I wouldn't call this over doing it, I call this a great marketing campaign. People will flock to see this. It's like nothing else out there.

You know what's scary? We are very close to getting 18-meter Gundam statues that are fully functional.
World War III? Nobody will stand a chance against Japan and their army of mechas.

I'm glad it's back, although personally I would have liked a Tallgeese statue, I'd buy it and live in it.

I would love to sit in the pilot seat of that, even if it's just for a little while.

Is a permanent placement or not?

I keep saying we need to make a Gundam Maxter, so when Japan eventually turns this one on, we won't be caught with our pants down. China has Optimus Prime, Japan has Gundam and Gigantor, what do we have? WE MUST NOT LOSE THE GIANT ROBOT ARMS RACE!

America needs to bring the 00 Quanta, Strike Freedom, & Unicorn Gundam at Comic-Con 2011 with additional motion, lights, sound effects, a beam saber that lights up real bright, and a cockpit simulator. If Bandai was smart, they'd work on a sweet multi-platform console game at the same time. Not just another Gundam game that sucks. Get some help from either Bioware or Bungie. If it mixes Halo, Mass Effect, & Gundam, now that would be a great game.

Hard to say, the article says it is permenant location. Its really cool, but its going be dickens to maintain. Its animated, moving head and all those lights, is going cost money. I hate see what it will look like in few years.
Something like that would be better indoors, where it could last longer.
