I believe Bleach would be much more attractive with romantic taste and the focus must be on Rukia. Who would even think about Inoe when someone with Rukia's character exists in the story. This is what I think what about you?

What Bleach needs right now is a plot that isn't written by a hack. It's far too aimless and plodding to hold my interest.

I think Tite Kubo should drop Bleach all together and just continue drawing Zombie Powder. Rukia is not that special of a character. Not to mention the series has one of the worst villains I've seen in a long while, Aizen.

Bleach is like a really bad RPG. If it was a videogame and you found out there are like, a million minions you have to fight to get to the main villain, you would drop it right away. How many HP does Aizen have?

I really like Rukia, too. I guess I'm a Ichigo-Rukia shipper.

However.

It seems to me that Bleach has lost its way. It just meanders around aimlessly. The plot, when it does move, inches along at a glacial pace. And while there are a lot of interesting characters, I think Tite Kubo isn't able to juggle them with the requisite skill.

Really, I've mostly lost interest in the series. I like Ichigo and Rukia, but I also like plot development. Like a lot of other people, I think Bleach peaked with the Soul Society arc.

It's too bad, really. So much potential gone to waste because the author took on more than he could handle.

That show peaked when Chad was introduced. Then I realized he wasn't the main character and it dropped in quality from there.

Edit: It peakse one more time when Yammy shows up on Earth and starts being a badass. Why isn't Yammy the main villain?!

To be quite honest, it's the action sequences that's kept me interested in Bleach for the past 6 years. Sure romantic elements are nice but I like the action. And dare I say it, I even enjoy said action during filler arcs.

Romance? Isn't the major sell for many shounen action craze titles like One Piece, Naruto and DBZ supposed to be on the action, over-the-top power-ups and building up on whatever new ability/ power-up/ scheme/ plot twist that any associated character(s) has up their sleeve? Laughing

I second that and I don't care what anyone else says. Though I sure as hell don't want any more romance or romance at all in Bleach.

I watch Bleach for the action, interesting characters and Johhny Young Bosch, but not for romance or any fluffy, cute nonsense like that. When I watch Shonen Jump show or a action show in particular, I want action and how the characters deal the situation at hand.

For example, I recently have been watching the original Dragon Ball Z via digital video disk (DVD) for last several months. In a nutshell, there are tons of reasons why I watch the show. The fact the show is fast paced, has plenty of awesome action and choke up of exceptional dialog (Chirs Sabat is awesome) and the fact there is limited romance or anything boring like that.

After nearly a decade of watching anime, in my personal opinion, if the series is a shonen title or primarily a action show, then that is all it should have. Sure a couple of jokes and such is fine, but very limited amounts of romance.

For romance, there is also shojo anime. Probably going to make some people mad here, but I personally do not like shojo anime. But just because I don't like shojo anime, that doesn't mean I bash it or be rude to those that do. It's not only a waste of time, but seriously is quite pointless.

But if by some rare chance I do want to watch/read a romance title, I'd read my Love Hina manga books or watch Toradora. In short, action should primarily be action and romance should really just be romance.

In Bleach's case, considering Ichigo and co. are busy fighting off enemies and such, I really don't think there is much room for romance now. Much rather see the characters fight and make the occasional joke than deal with love affairs.

Bleach is a Shonen Battle Manga.
If you want romance, read a Shonen Romance manga, or a Shojo Romance manga.
There's tons of other manga out there Smile
Like say, Pretty Face from VIZ. Nothing's more romantic than posing as the missing twin sister of your crush due to a plastic surgery mishap after a bus accident.

Well, that isn't the only way to read/watch more romance. I forgot to add fanfiction and good ole doujins.

Though to be honest, one is better off with a doujin than a fan fiction usually. I can't tell how many error laden fan fiction documents I've read over the years.

But don't shoot the messenger, I only provided information. What is done with the information is up to the person.

Very well put. Bravo!

I agree with that for the most part. I actually have watched Bleach since the beginning in Japanese with subs, so I can't vouch for how good Johnny Yong Bosch's Ichigo is, but I I'll take your word for it. I respect the man very much. He helped form my childhood (via Power Rangers).

Regarding shoujo anime, I enjoy it from time to time. I enjoy harem, maho shoujo, moe, and anything that's cutesy, but to a healthy level. I'm a 26 year old male, and I guess watching shoujo shows brings out my feminine side? I dunno. I'm not gay either. I really enjoyed Sailor Moon, and yes that show is primarily romance/drama-based, with youma pwnage and some comedy in it too. Those're the elements that kept me hooked on the series for its 200 episode/3 movie/4 special run. I've yet to sit through Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (the 2004 live action remake), or the numerous musicals over the years.

I also absolutely adore Love Hina and Toradora (mainly because of Kugimiye Rie playing the role of Taiga).

Anyway, back on topic. I don't see people complaining about romance missing from Naruto. A good balance of romance and action is Inuyasha. Look it up and you'll see what I mean.

Thank you very much, really appreciated the kind comment.

Wow, so I am not the only here that actually remembers Johnny from Power Rangers. Good times, but they make me feel old sometimes.

Although I did like the Love Hina anime, till this day, I still like the manga more. In the manga, Keitaro never seemed to give up and continued to try his best through out the series.

Toradora was awesome for the cast and Inko Chan (the pet bird). Not enough cool birds these days these days.

Don't get me wrong though, there is nothing wrong by reading a shojo series and reading it doesn't mean you swing for the other side (I am your normal straight guy like Shiggity). I just don't really like Shojo.

[EDIT: Please don't excessively quote. -TK]

Then what about the "neo-shonen" appeal? It's been proven that girls won't read shonen manga with characters that aren't cute (i.e. the kid with the white hair in Bleach) or if there isn't any romantic relationships. Remember that girls are just as big into shonen as guys are nowadays, if not more.

I watch Bleach for the action, characters, and occasional comedy. Serious romance doesn't seem like it would fit in, and its feels like to me the relationships hint more towards Rukia/Renji and Ichigo/Orihime anyways.
