Where the heck did this review come from?!? I can't look up any information about this!

It definately seems good(haven't seen such raving praise since the Summer Wars review), but what the heck are we supposed to do?

So is this actually out on Japan, or was it screened at a festival?

GAAAH! Stop reviewing things we have no way of getting yet! ;P After this review and that of Summer Wars, I'm going nuts waiting for some of these movie releases!

Wow, this review sure came out of nowhere. I didn't think this was even on anyone's radar. Sounds great though. I really look forward to seeing it.

Aha, I completely agree.
I'm hoping Bandai (Maybe it's their secret release) will release Summer Wars.
I watched some clips of this, seems like Dead Leaves taken even further, just more stylistically conscious.
I can't help but think of IGPX when I see the racing in a way.

It's been screening at film festivals for a while, so I guess that's where he saw it. It's not out in Japan as far as a I know. There's a 5 minute trailer up on Youtube, looks pretty nuts.

Exactly how he manages to pull this off is impossible to work out after just one viewing, and may never be revealed fully, but it does seem to hint that Redline is the work of a genuine genius.

Indeed. A genius with a lot of time and an obviously high budget, no doubt, in addition to whatever artistic talents are at work here.

After reading the review and, perhaps more importantly, looking at the trailer I can tell this is definitely a must watch.

I don't know if I'll love it as much as the reviewer did, to be honest, but I'm already halfway there. The unconventional animation style doesn't bother me in the slightest (quite the opposite) and its having a minimal story isn't going to be a problem if I'm not expecting otherwise to begin with.

As far as I know this hasn't been released in Japan yet, I saw it at a screening in London a few weeks ago, and before that it had been shown once in Italy last year. Might be wrong but I think that's the only two full screenings its had so far.

Check out the clips on YouTube - while I'm pretty sure they are concept work and not actually taken from the movie itself they are pretty representative of how the whole thing looks. Also if you can check out the Trava - Fist Planet OVA, it'll give you an idea of the setting and art style, and the two main charcters from that (Trava and Shinkai) make a cameo in Redline. Should be noted though that Redline had an obviously MUCH larger budget and the quality of animation and all round production values is so much higher.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. The fact that this exists considering the current creative and economic state of the industry is both surprising and incredibly exciting. More power to Madhouse.

Go see it if you get a chance. And take some of your non-otaku friends that just like crazy, exciting movies with you.

Wow! Thanks for putting this on the radar. I'll definitely check it out. It looks like a great change of pace from my weekly streaming views.

I saw the trailer and by god it looked impressive.

But I hope that there isn't a 5 minute segment like that with grunting, screaming and moaning. (Unless it was an actual part of the movie .... then damn ...)

I almost stopped watching - the last thing I want to see is random screaming. Thank you anime world! I get enough of that already and I can pop on "Origin: Spirits of the past" if I want random scenes and screaming .... "Toola ....!" "Toola ...!" ... Toooooolllllllaaaaaaa

Or possibly Escaflowne. Those scenes of Hitomi and Merle whinning and complaining never get boring ... (Though at least the show has story to make up for character)

But other than that it does look impressive. I will check it out when it comes available. Very Happy

I believe I am in a position to say this on the matter: As reviews for titles unavailable to one become increasingly frequent, one eventually learns to quell one's frustration.

Looks promising - a cross between Macross Plus and FLCL.
