manga/anime lovers are easy to tell from regular people... they have thousands of poser, videos, graphic novels, and maybe collectables. Shocked

Not really, looking into a crowd and seeing the person wearing an anime t-shirt, then yeah, it's easy to tell, otherwise you can't tell, or, you could always learn to read minds. Mr. Green

Hmm, it's a commonplace assumption that anime/manga fans are usually stereotyped as a nerdly assortment of characters with lots of anime-related merchandise and large collections of manga. I don't really see what this has to do with manga (as it's posted in the manga forum), though.

I don't have any posers. And for that matter, I have a grand total of one anime poster hanging in my house.

But the other items are relatively accurate, I have a couple hundred manga (actually, probably over a 1000) in my study, and about 500 anime DVDs on my DVD shelf (not including screenrs, which aren't mine).

But, none of that is identifiable on the steet. You'd only know I was an anime fan if you walked into my house, and then into my study.

I have no anime posters on my wall, as I grew out of posters when I ceased being a teenager. I have no particular anime collectibles out for display, save a single pokemon. And my manga collection is so small and well tucked away that you would never see it. Of coarse, my anime is proudly displayed where everyone can see it. Very Happy But of course, you need to actually come over to my house to know any of that; it's not obvious to any Joe on the street.

Shocked You should show me a picture of your collection sometime. Yes, like others have said unless your wearing an aime T-shirt or something else anime related on the street it be hard to tell you're an anime fan.

I have one anime poster on my wall, thats a Slayers poster. But I have bunch of other crap on my wall like a Sonic 2 poster, TMNT: The Movie clock, an original Phantasm II poster, and tons of Godzilla action figures on my shelf. I really try to make my room look nerdy, because I'm almost the only person who goes in there and I like having crazy stuff to look at. If someone doens't like it including the females I could really give less of a f***.

Not necessarily true. You can have someone who absolutely adores anime, but only rents it from video stores or something. Likewise, you can have a huge manga fan that only borrows their books from the library, and never put up any posters or models up in their room.

I think manga/anime fans usually do tend to have collectables, videos, etc, largely because they enjoy being able to support their hobby and having collectibles, but I don't think you have to have a well-stocked room to be an anime/manga aficionado.

not all the time, i mean, i am a big fan of anime, and the only anime i have is AKIRA and the only graphic novels i have are naruto vol. 1 and 2. i have no posers.

also, you cant just tell someone is a manga/anime lover by walking down the street and look at someone with a inu-yasah shirt and know they are an anime fan. maybe if you seen there house, and seen all inu-yasha in a room.

by the way, no one but my friends know that i am an anime freak.

I have about 11 posters and a wallscroll (combined) dispersed in both my bedroom and gameroom.

I have close to 100 individual DVD discs (counting each one in whichever box set), but I have ZERO graphic novels/manga, and maybe a little over one dozen collectables (if you count Limited Edition art boxes and slipcovers Smile).

I have 3 artlices of clothing that are anime-related. A Witch Hunter Robin and .hack//SIGN T-shirt, and a short-sleeve DBZ button shirt. Oh, and some Gundam model kits Wink.

As SO many of the people before me have writen, not many manga/anime lovers are like that. As for me, I don't really have anything in my house that would indicate that I'm an fan. I don't even have a poster hanging up. At best, you could guess from the Gundum models hanging around.

Just for the record, I do not consider myself an "otaku" nor do I endorse I know very much about anime in general. I find the term "otaku" a little shovenistic and don't really like it when someone claims to be one either.

I'm a fan, and that's it. I like to watch and collect anime because I just enjoy it, plain and simple, "Simple and Clean."

Are you trying to say here that anime lovers aren't normal people, because if you are i must object to that. I am an anime fan and im also a normal person. To think that you can tell an anime a fan just by what they wear or what they have on their wall is being very sterotypical. I do none of the things that you characterized as being typical of an anime fan and yet as i mentioned before i am an anime fan

I look just like the average joe (o.k., so I may be a lot more handsome than the average joe) but unless you can read that "anime freak" stenciled on my forehead, you won't know a thing.
