Didn't notice this on Natsume Maya until today:

23 Jun 2004, 4th item down:

---

The company Nakid has announced that Momoi Haruko (seiyuu and singer for the group Under 17) was hospitalised yesterday as a result of migraine causing breathing difficulties and other problems. Although no particular complications were found, she'll be undergoing further examination and getting some rest. As to her schedule, she'll have to put off upcoming performances, including at Anime Expo 2004, where Under 17 are one of the Guests of Honour. Source: Tentative Name.

---

Sad

That's really depressing. I know most of the people going to Anime Expo for guests are probably looking forward to Tomokazu Seki, but I think after going to cons for a few years, I look forward usually to whichever guests are going to be most genki at the con. And I had no doubt in my mind that Halko was going to be the most energetic, so I was really looking forward to an Under17 concert. Crying or Very sad

I wish her the best of luck in getting better.

From what I just heard she has cancelled her appearance. Her doctor ordered her to stay home. Let's wish her a speedy and healthy recovery.

Confirmation that she is unable to attend AX. Dyspnea is no laughing matter. Sad

Well, yes, but let's not go overboard here.

Dyspnea means "unusual shortness of breath", and it is a symptom that manifests in a number of ways, as the result of many different ailments. We have no information on how grave the symptoms are, and given the full spectrum of reported symptoms (migraine headaches and shortness of breath), I'd be much more likely to suspect that Momoi-san is suffering from stress and/or exhaustion. Anything from asthma to anxiety attacks to smoking-related emphysema to lung cancer is possible, of course.

DISCLAIMER: I am not a medical doctor, though my field is medical history (and my personal experience with dyspnea not inconsiderable).

Dyspnea is difficult or labored respiration. It can be associated with many ailments the body can suffer. I dealt with dyspnea when I developed what eventually became pneumonia and it was not a comfortable experience. One should not really move around and must be kept in a clean air enviroment. Sitting is the best and most comfortable position you can be in. Obviously this will affect ones ability to travel on a plane (as it is one can get sick due to the recycled air on the plane) as well as the ability to preform physical activities. Sad

I'm inclined to agree. Given how much work she's been doing it is most likely a factor. At least with her other events being postponed she will have some time to rest and recuperate.

Here's hoping that she does and that we can have her come to the U.S. in the future.
