Subscribed. $20 is plenty reasonable for a year subscription if it'll help you guys get new servers sooner. Good luck.

I'll say. I can't even read the article. Erm, I think I suggested this before, but isn't all those past threads taking up alot of server HD space? I mean it's all well and good to have them to look back on, but seeing as it's nearly a mortal sin to resurrect any of them, shouldn't 80, or 90 % of them be achived in a seperate server? That might free up your main server to run a bit faster without all that huge encrustations fouling up her hull?

Subscribed for sures. As Cait says, $20 is a pretty decent deal.

The issue really isn't HD space, but rather load.
As part of our January upgrade budget, we're planning on buying a 6tb NAS device for storage space.
Also, the forums take up very little HD space. The posts take up about 900 megs.

I have also notice that the site is running slow that there are times that it just wont load at all. well, today it is slow but at least it is able to load the page.
I would like to get out ANN since it is really a great site I like visiting every time but idk if the payments are just a one time and not monthly (meaning that it will charge automatically).
Good luck on getting a new server.

I'm reasonably sure it is not automatic. You can choose to make a one-time payment for one, six or twelve months through credit card or Paypal. I used Paypal and as far as I know, I would have needed to give them special permission for them to ever "automatically" charge my Paypal account for any future purchases of subscription. It's not like a Netflix account where you agree to continue to be charged a certain rate every month.

Come join us people, we have cookies!
... and umm... a book club, and umm, a political thread, and a video game thread and... a cute anime thread. But cookies are good, no?
If I go ahead and buy the next years subscription, will it just add on? I don't want to go ahead and get it if it'll just renew my date from here since I've got a bunch of months left on my current subscription.

Very reasonable prices. I subscribed for a month. When I have more money, I'll get the year subscription!

I just resubscribed for a year last week. I hope that'll help you get a better server (and more hamsters to run on the treadmills).
What will the server be named? You already have skuld and peorth.

One question, if I may? If I subscribe, will I be able to see your streaming videos, even though they are region blocked to me at present?

I think that it's a great idea to simply encourage the subscriptions and use the money for new hardware. People are typically much more receptive toward paying for a service rather than a handout. It is good that the site is seeing increased traffic, though.

I was wondering about this. It seems, especially in the morning, huge threads take a bit of time to load while less than 100 threads are smokin' fast.
Since I've already contributed, I'm sure some of that will be taken away from paying for DVDs to review.
Good luck with the upgrade. May want to let us know ahead of time when it happens, given outages may occur during this time.

Does ANN even pay for DVDs to review anymore? I would think they would be getting tons free from distributors to review. Same goes with manga. I know my bookstore alone for some reason gets advance reader copies of every YenPress title their is. Great work bonus there. It's a common thing for promotion of the product, and ANN I would think gives the product tons of exposure to the demographic needed.
