This is a very unique apology. People should know not to always/if at all mimic what they hear, see, and read.

This is the same Shonen Jump that show people fighting with weapons and surviving, bouncing cannonballs off their stomachs, and etc., correct?

a-cha, (Sarcasm) that would be the same Shounen Jump unless there is a new magazine with the same name I am not aware of.

Which situation do you think the average Jump reader is more likely to encounter: coming in contact with a helium can or having a cannonball shot at them?

I know I've seen gags like this in US cartoons before. S'pose it's good to have a disclaimer so thoughtless kids don't go out and try it themselves, but I do hope Sket Dance doesn't get in any real trouble for this...

It's not really so much about the helium as it is inhaling a pressurized gas directly from the cylinder, which is extremely dangerous...and something most of the kids reading Jump probably don't realize.

All the cool kids know that you wait until after the helium is in a balloon before you try inhaling it, so your lungs don't explode from the sudden rush of pressure if you've got an amateur at the canister nozzle. Duh...

But yet they have kids running around on alternate planets encountering alien creatures that give off Helium and breathing it there as well, walking around all day long talking funny too - nobody said anything about that either...
The oddest things get apologized for in Japan... but yeah, you never use a helium tank directly - always use it second hand from a pre-inflated balloon - and vacate it as quickly as possible.

Out of all of the crap that comes out of Japan, HELIUM is the thing that makes them apologize? Death Note influenced a murder in Belgium. A kid suffocated because of Naruto. But oh no, some manga characters breathing in Helium is way more important than people dying from Shonen Jump manga.

Gas cylinders have regulators and don't release gas that fast.
Inhaling helium (or nitrogen) is currently the preferred method of killing yourself painlessly, you just drift off to sleep without feeling anything
The high pitched voice comes with the oxygen-helium mix used by divers to avoid the bends

Rape games and abandoning your childhood education for adventuring are okay, but inhaling helium is simply offensive. How dare they release this?

This is epic, murdering people with notebooks, swords, special "ninja"powers, and by any other means is a-OK, Not to mention ALL the sex that has graced the magazine was also acceptable, HOWEVER inhaling helium is a definite NO.

The fact of the matter is, the only dangers of kids crouching, cupping their hands and yelling Japanese attack names at the top of their lungs in the mall, is embarressment to their parents. inhailing a noble gas that could possibly stop them from breathing is TOTALLY different. Bad comparison, dude.

Generally cutting up people with swords poses a health risk as well, but that's fine because they don't have much swords in Japa-oh wait hang on.
So much for SJ trying to gain a bit more maturity. Nanny State Soccer Moms are ruining every country in the world, now.

Disappointing bad press for such a fantastic, underrated series.
