Huh. Red Garden kind of sounds, plotwise at least, like a less porny version of Gantz. Am I the only one getting that?

Thanks to this column I have a plan for my club's Halloween screening. I'm going to add Red Garden to my Netflix queue since I've shown the horror stuff that I own already. Running a club for going on three years and finding something new to show is kind of a pain. Thanks, Bamboo!

Well, there is the plot similarity that the characters in both are actually dead and have to fight creatures in order to really, REALLY not die, but that's as far as it goes. I guarantee to you, anybody watching Red Garden is not going to be reminded of Gantz. |

I tried watching Red Garden, but I just didn't care about the girls all that much. True, it was nice to see a more 'natural' reaction to their new state, but the action just didn't pick up fast enough. I didn't really get the singing either. Perhaps I'll give it a fresh look one of these days.
I'm glad Ghost Hunt got a good review though. Netflix had pt 1 sitting on my save list for months and finally moved it to my queue. Just bumped it up to position #1. |

Never thought I'd Monday morning quarterback _here_...
Can I presume your resentment has gone down somewhat?...at least Captain Neckbeard (that's what we used to nickname Kyle Orton) has one more win than #6...suddenly that preseason skirmish between the Bears and the Broncs seems like an eternity ago.
You mean like his performance last night? *ugh* That really _was_ a joke. Right...back to the anime...gomen...been meaning to check out Red Garden...those have to be the among the most unique chara designs I've seen in recent years... |

I too am confused how the guy who created the show being spoofed (among other things) gets the credit for creating our frogs unless Mine is his pen name somehow? The manga is chuck-full of Gundam refs along with the 5-man hero teams (which isn't exactly a Gundam thing that I know of). I was rather horrified at the voice of Keroro, but it's not really horrible-I can live with it, though it's not as adorable as the original Japanese voice. Nakata will always be Giroro, but Sabat's good in his own way. Tama actually sounds better in English. However, I gave up on the dub of Chuck Huber channeling Bert Lahr or Ed Wynn (or both). Sorry. I will finish the show subtitled. Koyasu is way more awesome as is Akira Ishida I really cannot understand the need to play with the dub when the original is so funny (I laughed several times at the cavety ep. I may not be a Gundam geek, but I recognized the launch sequences. Hikaru Midorikawa was so funny as R Grey). It doesn't matter since we have the subtitles, but it is interesting Funi doesn't seem to know what to do with the title. I noticed they seemed to ignore Giroro's crush on Natsume for a couple eps (while I was still watching in English), but they had to address it in the belt ep, yet they had no problem with Angol & Tama's little lusting after Keroro. I don't see why the jerk/creep factor was increased on Saburo. Yeah, he knows too much, but he's also supposed to be a popular dj. I wouldn't consider Ghost Hunt Rental. I bought the 2 sets. (& just finished vol 10 of the manga) |

I think it was just a slip up by ANN. The speech given by Tomino also introduced him as the creator of Keroro Gunsou, but I think he was merely a big inspiration.

As a Packer fan I can say I was pretty pleased with last night's result, just wish they wouldn't make us sweat it out till the end... Jay Cutler, what to say, I think Phillip Rivers was right about this guy - temper, temper... Back in the 90's there was a defensive end for the Bears named Alonzo Spellman, another NFL guy described him this way:
"Physically he's a world-beater, mentally he's an egg-beater" Same could be said about Cutler... Worse news Bears fans, sounds like Urlacher is done for the year. Back to anime related stuff, Steve Evan, I really like the layout of your displays! That lighted glass display case full of figs is very nice, you've got more figs of the Major than I do & I'm jealous Also like the Lain & Haibane ones. Any more Mach 5's & you'll be starring in an episode of Hoarders I also want that Last Exile scroll, oh, do I spy a starfighter from Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century?? I had one of those too, but I think I later camo'd it & stuck Cobra logos on it after the landing skid broke & then took off the lower wings |

Wow.
That guy had a lot of Mach 5s. I can respect that. |

nope, its not a pen-name Mine Yoshizaki was a doujinshi artist until he became an assitant of Aki Katsu, then he made Keroro. and since then has made "Arcade Gamer Fubuki" and the designs for "Seven of Seven"and also has gotten involved with video game projects such as designing Angol Fear in SC4 (you could say, based off Angol Mois from KG?) He's also in charge of publishing the Keroro Land, a bi-monthly kids magazine in Japan all about the title character. so. Keroro Gunso is pretty much his baby that he's worked on for the past 10 years of his life :/ and should be credited as such. besides. doesn't it makes more sense that the creator of Arcade Gamer Fubuki is responsible for Keroro, much more than the creator of Garzey's Wing and Aura Battler Dunbine? |

Huh? But didn't FUNi address Giroro's crush on Natsumi in his first episode? I didn't see them ignore it... |

That was me screwing up and not cross-checking my references. According to the Sgt. Frog anime entry in the ANN encyc, the original manga is indeed listed with Mine as the author, but Tomino and Yatate are listed as the anime creators, somehow. I'll change what's in the column, though.
My resentment has subsided a bit since Cutler's stellar performance, but I'm still a little bitter. Mostly at McDaniels. |

Evan, I am extremely jealous of your shelves.
Why? Cause you have a replica of Saya's sword. DX I needs to get me one of those some day. If not of the first, then the second if they ever made one... ...Or I can just save up and someday get that really expensive Frostmourne Replica. 8) |

Thank you, I knew I wasn't going crazy. I don't know why Tomino is getting the credits for this story, unless Mine Yoshizaki is a pen name for him. |

I've checked all official sites of Kerero anime as well as episodic staff lists yet none of them has ever credited Yoshiyuki Tomino or Hajime Yatate. The original submitter didn't even provide a source. I've taken them off. |
