Nah, she could use this to her advantage. There's no such thing as bad publicity. Worked for Kate Moss.

Wow , well d*mn. Doesn't that suck.
(this would so not happen here. (getting kicked to that extent just because of drugs i mean.) though, I suppose it depends on the person, company and their genre..... and the said drug ofcourse. )

In the U.S., the PR department would be spinning it as she was a victim and entering rehab. The surfer dude would have made her do it, and he would be sitting in the county jail. Very unflattering pictures of him would be taken and posted on E! News, just opposite the pictures of her being helped into the rehab limo while adoring fans wiped tears from their eyes.
Gotta love Hollywood.
Not to say her life should be completely ruined over .008 grams of anything, or hair analysis.

I can regrettably understand terminating the contract, but this isn't a very sporting thing to do. Is it customary in Japan to 'erase' drug users from commercial ventures?
As Mohawk and Shiroi would agree, such practices are hardly the case elsewhere...

That seems very extreme to me.

While, as an American, I believe the dismissal is quite harsh, I can understand why the Agency did this, to protect reputation. Perhaps if she had come forward from the beginning, rather than evading police things would be different. I admit I know nothing about the Japanese legal system. If she broke the law and by doing so broke contract agreements, then she has only herself to blame. I know I would lose my job if I was convicted of a crime. I don't know why the Record label pulled the products. it seems to me that this would only serve to boost the black-market value and inflate the price of used products ( ie. as collector's items). If this is the case, I'll watch the ANN news and buy up dvds/cds performed by Idol-fugitives in the future.

It's customary in Japan to 'erase' bad publicity period, including from history texts.

Yes. It happens often. Just like the author who got charged with possession had his baby star line "erased" same for Sakura from L arc etc..

I am glad even Japanese celebrities get arrested for crimes like this. American celebrities know how to get around it and don't seem to want to fess up.

Yes. Like I said when this story broke, her career is over.
I think it's commendable that Japan holds its celebrities to a high standard and that there are actually consequences for their mistakes.

Wow. This reads like the plot of a manga. When does Ms. Sakai contact the dashing, mysterious hero to help get her reputation back from those who framed her?

Wow. It's wonderful to see that Sun Music and Victor Entertainment are going to stand by Noriko Sakai, amidst these allegations, to make sure she gets the help she needs with her amphetamine addiction, hopefully turn her life around and stand as a positive example to other entertainers facing similar circumstances.
/sarcasm
Yep. Just another day in the pop music industry. Nothing to see here, folks, please move along. Really, NOTHING to see here. As a matter of fact, there was never anything to see here PERIOD, so we honestly don't know what you're asking us about.
