How much is there that's worth it?
I saw a little bit of it some years back and enjoyed the early parts but I see that it's greatly espanded since then into three full seasons and some movies. |

Think "Dragonball" when it comes to this series, in which it takes 26 episodes to close, doesn't do well to do so, but the ride to the final conflict is often better than the conflict itself.
The first two seasons are pretty average, but one can get through them without too much problem despite the repetitive story telling. Season 3, though, isn't on the same level. Not only did it seem like an absolute re-telling of season one (different names, same crap), but the art style was changed. In addition, the writers took it upon themselves to take a few episodes off the "main story arc path" and throw them into what was supposed to be comedy, but ends up a failure for trying to break apart the standard story telling path. It's a good series to kill time with, but don't expect too much from it. The story elements have been done to death since its original release, the characters have been cookie-cutter'd to death (Amelia's still cute, though, with her crusade for justice bits), and the art style may not be appreciated given its lack of CGI used in today's anime. Rent/stream it first, then decide if you want to own it. |

Season 1 is a fun adventure/comedy series. Nothing great, but worth watching if you like the characters. Season 2 is a very good adventure/comedy - it's more tightly plotted than the first series, better written in general, the cast has more of a chance to shine, the fights are more engaging, and so on. The third season is the worst of the lot; it has a better story than the first, and a few of the new characters are quite good, but the animation budget was slashed and it's a 26-episode series saddled with two five-episode filler arcs, which is never good. I've only seen the first few episodes of the fourth season, but they were good.
The movies and OVAs are worth watching if you liked the first two seasons. Nothing spectacular, but quite entertaining. |

...since no one mentioned season 4 and 5....
They are a continuation of the series but since they are only 13 eps long, thing of them as one season that got split up and half. Revolution DOES have a semi-ending you could say, but continues into R-Evolution where you get the full ending of the "season". By the way, all the movies and OVAs (except I think Premium if I recall...) are all prequels, showing the adventure of Lina before season 1. I prefer the TV series to the movies/OVAs, and as for seasons, they are all fun in their own way. The movies/OVAs are just... bizzare and random at times (but heck, the show is too!) |

The first TV series is reasonably entertaining, not brilliant. I think the second season is significantly worse than the first one - see my review in My Anime for details. By all means, check out the first season if you can get it cheap, but if your reaction is "meh", don't bother investigating further.

Season 4 is forgettable. The plot is a repetition of what happened in the first season and the only difference is that in Slayers Revolution it's handled abysmally. The characters are depicted as a bunch of idiots. The humour in the early episodes is the only element that is good. In comparison to it, season 3 looks like an excellent series. I haven’t seen season 5, but I have read that it’s at the same dismal level as its predecessor. |

Well, I must admit that the climax to R-Evolution was something I didn't quite expect spoiler[ the whole Rezzo being good then bad then good thing >_> ]
Then there was Terriermon http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_v1QTVwbItdU/R1WQ3NE33SI/AAAAAAAAAT4/JJXMtXlDru8/s400/terriermon.jpg wait, oops I mean Pokota^^ http://randomc.animeblogger.net:8000/image/Slayers/Slayers%20REVOLUTION%20-%2013%20-%20Large%20Ending%2002.jpg Yeah that was one character I was not a fan of... although his storyline wasn't too bad. |

Slayers is the best thing ever made by mankind.
I may feel that way because their religion mirrors my own. All hail Tiamat |

Though the various seasons get watered down, it's one of those anime that is an acquired taste. Personally, it's one of my favorite comedy anime and it could be an escape from the grim and dark atmosphere (Though Slayers gets this at times) many anime have.

All the voice actors still work together on Pokemon. Lisa Ortiz can do no wrong.
The best part in my opinion was Phabrizzo's death in Slayers Next. And I know something very interesting about Xellos. |

No, they were fired by PokemonUSA when they got from 4kids though some of the original went back to do supporting characters. But Lisa can't go wrong as Lina. Though Amanda Winn Lee and Cynthia Martinez have done well in other roles, I feel they sucked as Lina in the OVAs/movies because I feel the essence of Lina being dubbed is Lisa alone. |
