Diversity is a very good thing. China should work on developing their own cartooning style.

This just strikes me as weird. Korea has been producing manwha for YEARS, how come no one in China ever tried to do something like this? I know that practically every mildly successful manga released in Japan is also released in Chinese(though I don't know if this is for Mainland China, Taiwan, Sinapore or all three). And the bootleg industry for anime has been thriving in Hong Kong/Taiwan for years.
Does anyone know if chinese 'manga' exists? If not, they WHY has it taken them so long? O.o |

It'll be very interesting to see how Chinese manga develops into, given the unique social conditions of the country. Also, does anyone know the pronounciation of "cartoon" in chinese, because that's what "manwa" is in Korean. If this trend continues then it'll probably be what "cartoon" is in Chinese. |

I believe I own a few chinese-created street fighter mangas. As they're not original, you may or not consider them chinese, but they WERE drawn by chinese artists. A distinguishing feature of them is that they're actually full color, rather akin in color quality to a mid 80s american comic. Artistically they're obviously based on japanese manga style.
As to their storytelling style, i can't say much due to my complete lack of chinese language skillz. I bought these for the same reason as my Captain Harlock french language kids books and my turkish copy of ninja high school, as a curiosity

ComicsOne already puts out a number of Chinese Kung Fu comics, so does Asiapac Books.
What I'd *really* like to see is someone license the chinese comic with the 3 old men (its name escapes me right now, I'll update this in the morning if I remember it then), kinda like a chinese 3-Stooges. |

There isn't any reason why they shouldn't, but that doesn't mean it can't annoy me that one style is now taking over the world, and that doesn't mean that it can't annoy me that everyone here seems to be welcoming it (as if there have never been any comics ever published in China before, or they'll automatically better because of it). As much as I like the Japanese comic style, I'd never want it to be the only style. |

hello, new here. please to meet y'all.
haven't any of you heard of the graphic novels storm riders and heaven sword & dragon sabre by ma wing shing and romance of the three kingdoms adopted and illustrated li zhi qing? these have been out for quite a long while. there's plenty of manhwa out there - just gotta look. comics aren't a new thing in china, but the mainland sort of fell behind - hong kong is a better place to find them. btw, manga is derived from manhwa, and its kanji is the same as the chinese character. |

ah please, they claim to be communists, but they ain't really just like america claims to be a democracy but it's actually a republic, it' sin the pledge of allegiance!
haha so like, i've many less qualms them most peopel with communists, but i still have a couple. at any rate, i'm all for it ^^ china is friggen huge, great place to market your goods to as such |
