Though it is probably doesn't make much of a difference, the trailer I saw had a timer putting at 62 seconds.

It looks okay for Western animation. Looks like they were influenced by Dune.

Well I think that's the point of it, to look unique. I think the animation looks awesome, and they look sort of Japanese for once!!! Keeping an eye on this one.

It's not unique. It borrows stuff from Dune and Ergo Proxy.

I think it looks cool!
It's rotoscope, like the old 'A-Ha' video 'Take on me' or Scanner Darkly or Ralph Bakshi (1970's Lord of the Rings, Fire and Ice, and Wizards). So, that means they shot live actors first, then animated over their image frame-by-frame.
I think this is the only time I've ever seen a Japanese film that was 100% animated in the US for Japan.
To me, looks like Moebius, the old album artist 'Roger Dean', and a little bit of Dune like other people have noted.
Hope it comes to the states somehow...
