I'm only passing this on because it seems like a lot of anime fans really enjoyed the award winning series.

Cool. I've never seen the show, but I used to enjoy the comic a while ago. This sounds promising.

I agree. I used to read the comic, but im not a real fan of comic book cartoons. the real movies on the other hand are usually pretty good. but the cartoons sometimes are lacking. no offence to Anime. I heard good things about the 1st series but am not really interested.

i hope this is an continuation. even though it didn't follow the comic, that series was awesome.

The comic was very deep. I remember one issue that involve an abusive father and an innocent child that really touch me. If they follow the comic closely and not "tone it down", I have no doubt that it be really good.

It is a promising series, If you have the time you should at least check out the first season/series. As i have mentioned awhile ago in one of my posts; as far as i'm concerned Spawn was the closest thing to Anime, from an American animation studio. (HBO Animation) Although epidsodic like most of today's Anime, Spawn was heavy on story content,Drama and brilliant voice acting courtesy of Keith David and the rest. The live action movie however was very disapointing to say in the least. |

Did HBO ever finish that series? The last volume I could find for sale was a silver cover with I believe episodes from the 3rd season.

No they didn't. It stalled due to rumors of creative control.
Anyway, I loved the series and I have all of them. I'm really glad that it's coming back. -Ghost- |

I thought the Spawn animated series was done by Madhouse? If it was then i think it should be considered anime just like the original Transformers was done by Toei.

No, it's not anime for the same reasons that shows like G.I. Joe or Thundercats aren't anime. It only uses a japanese studio for it's animation, otherwise the original designs, stories, production, and all around creation of the series is American.

Your $ could go to Season 1, which was very Dark and at the time, edgy. (still edgy today though) and 2 which is very SOLID !
but 3 was...not even close. Stop at Two...just like how FF.Coppola should have stopped at PART II later, -13 |

I'd like to see Spawn return but I would like more action. Spawn never really even used his powers and never faught any of the comic villans besides OvertKill, Chapel, and Violator which was once and lasted 2 min. So yeah a new Spawn series would be great, but I would like them to pick up a little more on the action side instead of the highly drama heavy tone of the first series. Drama is good and all...but after all...its Spawn, there's gotta be a balance between the drama and the action.

I loved the original animated one on HBO, but right now I am skeptical. I need to see some production art...
