The round is almost over and I have no clue what the official vote is. All I know it is going to be close. I think all of the votes might not count this time due to violations. Obviously, L won though. His margin was quite substantial to say the least. I hate to say this, but it looks like L is the favorite to win this tournament regardless of who won the other round.
I wonder where dtm, Derek and all of the others that voted previously are. Don't think we are going to break a record with this round. I could of swore I saw the previous posters I mentioned earlier on earlier though. I guess they could have lost interest. |

Hey, I already posted way back. I do wonder where DerekTheRed got to; maybe he was turned off by the heated debate last week?
I believe L and Lelouch moved on, the latter winning by 1 vote (doesn't include Sonae). |

Tournament Semi-Finals are now closed.
In Groups A/B, L emerged victorious with a solid 20-9 victory over The Count in a result most people probably expected. I had believed from the very beginning that it was a foregone conclusion that at least one of Death Note's "big brains" would make it to the final match, and it looks like I wasn't wrong. The Group C/D bout was immensely tighter. After defeating Light last round, Aramaki was rendered nearly a non-factor in what came down to a head-to-head between Lelouch and Johan. With one vote DQed for not explaining itself, a last-minute vote decided the match in favor of Lelouch by a razor-thin 13-12-4 margin. (The disallowed vote, incidentally, turned out to not be a factor, since its inclusion would have given Lelouch a two vote edge instead of one.) Really, I thought this was going to end up being another tie, and given the level of competition, it's only fitting that the match went down to the wire. The final bout will go up soon, as will some comments about future plans. |

Lol, I knew that. When I typed your name I meant the guy with the duck icon. I have no idea why I typed your name. It will interesting to see who will win-- hopefully it will be an upset.
And isn't Derek one of the higher ranked players too? I guess dtm may be right. |

Darn, I got a 19-10 vote in favour of L. Now I have to go back and check where I went wrong. |

With Sonae's and Derek's votes Lelouch would have had 15. Minus my vote on Johan since i didn't vote last round to maintain the tie and plus the 4 votes for Aramaki, makes 15 for Johan too. So think i was right few days ago when i said Lelouch gets the same support and Johan/Daisuke have their votes split.

Tournament Final is now closed.
Final results can be found here. More than five months of tournament and prelims now comes down to this. Two have survived from an original field of 128 (and pool of more than 200 different nominated characters) to duke it out to be proclaimed anime's Most Clever/Intelligent character. While you may or may not disagree with who made it this far, both have proven to be fierce competitors. And what does it say that both represent series renowned for their sensationalist flair and melodrama? Simple: that being able to clearly display one's intelligence in execution matters. But enough of that. Assembled with each contestant is a listing of all clips for that character to date, with the starred entry indicating the new one for the finals. Choose carefully and be sure to justify your answer; as with last round, votes lacking some kind of explanation about why you picked your winner will not be counted. After this round concludes, I will take a week or so break and then begin the nominations process for the next tournament, so start considering what you might want to do next. (Don't discuss it here, however.) The goal, for various reasons, is to have the next tournament up and running no later than the end of March. I look forward to participating in the next tourney, Key.
Now for this final match. I have to side with L. Lelouche had the support and resources at his disposal to plan things out from what I seen of Code Geass. L, on the other hand, faced discontinued support in the pursuit of his investigation of the Kira case thanks to building fear from law enforcement. As a result, L had limited support and resources to aid in his investigation of Light. For making use of what limitations were in front of him and making effective use of them, I have to give kudos to L. I'm very surprised that Lelouche even made it this far in the tournament. I had pictured him losing after two rounds when I did my mini-game. |

Results.
Holy crap! Someone's going to hit 200 points in the minigame. For some perspective, the winning score in the Duos minigame was 153. For myself, my predictions ended up giving me a score of 176 (I picked Aramaki to win against The Count, shows what I know). But really, the minigame has been pretty incredible. Unfortunately for Marie, her runaway success has ended, as Velocet leapt up into first place after the semifinal round. Olliff and Marie are still tied in second, and the only other contestant within striking distance of the top three places is Rainbowcourage. Also, I dazzle you with me colorful Excel charts: I'd like to thank DerekTheRed again for creating an array to workout the highest possible rank someone could achieve in the minigame, saving me literally days worth of time from scanning through my spreadsheets. |

This will probably sound really, really bad...but I'm so ambivalent about both characters...I had to resort to flipping a coin. I really shouldn't have to be doing this in the Final...but there you go. And the person who won the coin toss is:

Yeah, Light being defeated by Aramaki hurt, because it meant I didn't get points for the side of the semis either. I guess the question here is does Velocet have the same overall winner that I do. If that's the case, well, it was a good run Anyway, voting. L, without a doubt. It's hard to really explain why. Lelouch (seriously guys, the extra e thing is getting REALLY old) is smart, yes, this is true. He definitely impressed me with his strategy often. However, he always did remind me so much of Light (though more likable). Both of them had supernatural powers fall into their hands and both knew how to best exploit them. They were both very successful (ultimately spoiler[Lelouch more than Light]) though things did get dicey for both. But L didn't have the advantage of any secret power, nor did he have any idea as to what the specific power of a Death Note was. Yet he figured it out. Even at that disadvantage, he was able to essentially figure out who Kira was, even if he never had the evidence to support his conclusion. So basically my hypothesis is that if L had been up against Lelouch and they had been on a level playing field, with neither side having any supernatural abilities that the other didn't either have or at least know of, then L would have come out on top. |

Voting for: L
Reason: Honestly, it's things like L's ability to connect the dots with the Kira investigation. Even though something like the death note should not even enter into a person's mind, he was able to use logic to determine that the cause of the murders was supernatural. The way he ran the investigation while keeping pressure on Light at all times really is impressive. Lelouch had some great moments, but for intelligence shown vs. screentime, I gotta give the slight edge to L. |

Lelouch
spoiler[Lelouch managed to trick the ENTIRE World except for two people, one of which got hints left and right and the other because of her abilities] Well, Lelouch just seems a lot smarter to me. He demonstrates this many times throughout the series. He defeats opponents of higher skill and of extreme advantage. In the end, he also completes his goals sucessfully, while L, yet smart, died before he could complete his goals. |

Voting for L.
Well, it keeps in with my track record of not having voted for Lelouch once since his match vs Reinhard, but it's mostly that I cannot in good conscious vote for Lelouch when he's faced at least two opponents whom I have considered vastly smarter. If Johan were still here, I'd be going for him over L, but given the choices, it's L for me. L isn't exactly stupid either, tough vote for me as I don't consider either one to be the smartest out of the competition thus faced (I thought most of the smartest characters were in either Group C or D), but I'm giving L the slight edge on this one. |

Strange how 1 vote made this so easy for L. Going to vote for Lelouch even though i don't consider either one worthy for the final. Lelouch showed his intelligence in more areas than L did and he spoiler[achieved his goal].
