I absolutely love the idea of different countries working together! Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Oh and I think its amusing that mainland China wasn't involved. |

Actually, better yet, I hope someone LICENSES it, but I kind of expect that sales might suck because fans will look down on it for not being Japanese, and American dub fans won't be interested because their beloved VAs are involved. |

My first impression was "Vanness who?" before looking it up in Wikipedia, "oh, that F4 guy."  I wonder how many existing anime fans would be attracted by his fame; most of his fans are not anime fans.

I hope not  I hope that American fans would overlook those things and watch it for it's amazing story. Even if the author isn't Japanese, the production staff is, so that makes it somewhat right? 
The fact that this story wasn't the grand prize winner but has garnered this kind of attention and production is a big thing. I can't wait to watch this. Woo, I should get a new cable subscriber that has Animax. |

Hmm, a multinational anime production, huh? I just hope this doesn't suck like Geisters did. But, unlike the neckbearded weeaboos whom I think will flame this show for not being completely produced in Japan, I shall wait and see.
However, knowing that Taiwanese and Hong Kong VAs will be handling the English voice work, I'm kinda leery about whether or not they'll give a good performance. (I guess when you're used to Bang Zoom, FUNimation, Ocean, Blue Water, NYAV Post, etc., like I am, anything else will seem strange at first.) |

I'm just psyched that they're not using Animax' resident dubbers. Not that they aren't good, but I'm just a little sick of hearing the same voices with no variety.

Haha, probably true in Taiwan, but I've met a strangely large number of anime fans Stateside who like Vanness. Met some random Americans at anime conventions who didn't speak a lick of Chinese into him too, now THAT was kind of weird.
I don't know about Josie Ho, but don't bet on this yet. Vanness Wu is an American-born Chinese-- born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He plays Chinese-speaking roles in his Taiwanese dramas, but English is his first and best language, and he (and some observers) admits that he actually has trouble with Chinese in some areas too. He's got no more accent or grammar trouble than any American-as-apple-pie guy out there. Also, these aren't TW and HK VAs, but TW and HK actual actors, so you can assume their work will probably be much better than what you see on Chinese dubbed anime.[/quote] |

Yeah, but it's kind of nice hearing them in non-Animax venues. Like Sarah Hauser (Yumi in Marimite, Chibi Maruko-chan) doing the voice-over for the Tamagotchi version 5 commercial. Only seen it on Cartoon Network Philippines, but I assume it's on other English-language channels in Asia. I'm not really sold on celebrity voice-casting. It can work, but most of the time it seems like a gimmick. |

It's awesome to see asian countries working together, but it's been my experience that these collaborations generally do not turn out that great of an end product.

Well, the only time I've ever watched anything whose English dub was done in an Asian country was One Piece's Odex dub, and their VAs have been pretty much panned for not putting enough emotion or other vital nuances into their performances. Until now, I'd never heard of Vanness Wu or Josie Ho, but now this has me interested in how they'll pull off their roles. |

How many Chinese-dubbed anime have you watched? As far as I can remember, some of them are on par or even better than the original (Shin-chan, Keroro, Chibi Maruko-chan, ATASHIn'CHI), and those with live-action actors are often horrible. |

And I think Josie Ho a pretty well-respected musician (rock, not pop, I believe) in the Hong Kong scene, isn't she? Just going by what I've read in Giant Robot... |
