The beginning of Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex.

However, it depends on what you mean by CGI animation. If you mean purely Comptuer Generated Images like in FFVII:Advent Childern then there are not that many. However if you mean were its partly cel animation partly comptuer generated, then the answer would be alot. IIRC most of the animes produced now are using some CGI in various places.

This is true. Though I think Last Exile is enough of both worlds that he'd enjoy it either way. Same (I suppose) with Blue Sub 6.

In terms of pure CGI, the only one I can think of beyond what's already been mentioned is Final Flight of the Osiris from The Animatrix.

Oh, and dribbles, don't say "Japanese" on here again.

Does SD Gundam count?

Actually, most, if not all, of Studio Gonzo's works have been digitally animated since Blue Sub 6. This includes the 2-D stuff. In fact, a lot of shows have given up traditional cel animation to use digital cels, so you might consider those as CGI shows.

SD Gundam probably does count because it uses cel-shaded 3-D models.

There was a show (movie?) in a magazine I read called Alice or something, but that's all I know of it.

That's what I meant. Exile's one of the best combinations of the 2-D CG and 3-D CG I personally have seen so far. Hence "the best of both worlds."

Voltron: The Third Dimension was a completely CGI animated series. It hasn't been released on DVD yet. Why are you looking for CGI animes?

Though short-lengthed animations, "Blood the Last Vampire" and "Kai Do Maru" were both done digitally.

EDIT:
"Maki Terashima, International Operations Manager for Production I.G., later elaborated that "full-digital" meant that Blood: The Last Vampire is mainly animated on paper, but after scanning physical artwork in, the entire process is digital-the way Disney and many other Western studios have been doing feature animation since 1990."

Hmm. Can't say I've ever really watched any of these. But from what I have, Zoids seems to have a lot of CGI in it.

Well Studio 4 degrees C does a lot of their work purely with toon shaders these days.

A lot of other companie choose to go hybrid cel/cg as toon shading is a tricky business. I've done 2 projects with it and it often requires some very creative hacking to get what you want.

As for the original FF Spirits movie, other than the direction the entire movie was produced in a US studio. There were certain key memebrs that were Japanese but it was around 85% American/Westerners that produced(animation/writing) the film.

Flight of Osiris was also an American team.

I'm not sure what the deal is yet with Advent Children.

IIRC Advent Children is being done by the same team that did Spirts Within - which makes sense because they have experence doing it. Also - don't quote me - but I seem to remember hearing that they are working out of Hawaii.
