I just got finished playing through the Rockman DASH beta,a couple of days ago.Memories.Nice comparison for Alisia dragoon.Great action shooter, horrible American cover. I never understood why they would change the cover of games in the past and sometimes even now. This particular cover puts the U.S. cover to shame.I do appreciate that Conan type illustration, though.

Because the anime aesthetic was foreign to most on this side of the Pacific back then. I know I thought anime characters looked weird the first time I saw them.

Oh, god, please.

Can all the good RPG's I know and love go back and reside on one system like they used to? For crying out loud...the new Suikoden will be on the DS?! And here I was in the middle of breaking down to get an Xbox 360 for my RPG addiction. I just want all my RPG goodness on ONE system. Like it used to be.
Really now? Is that too much to ask?
And yes, I'm fully aware that ANN can't do a thing about it. Unfortunatley. *sigh* But I do appreciate my game dosage, news, and heads-up-about-XxXgame reading "The X-button" - Awesome column! And this way I can continue my wait to buy a new system. At the rate I'm going I think I may hold out until the 4th generation consoles have hit stores.

Capcom, would you kindly release another Mega Man Legends game? Don't care what system it's on, just DO IT.
And bring back Roll. She was adorable

I think a MML 3 is inevitable somewhere down the road, it's just a matter of appearing on which system.
Misadventures of Trone Bone 2, I'd love to see that.
great x-button, this week. It was well up my alley.

I don't know if I trust Capcom anymore, over the past few years they've done a lot of questionable things in my books. One of them being not bringing over the Megaman Legends 1 & 2 PSP versions to North America.
I remember reading a interview with the director of MML, IIRC he said he would have to work for EA to be able to get the budget to develop the next MML. Hey, atleast the new EA is all about being cool.

I loved Megaman Legends and it's N64 port Megaman 64, but yeah, that series needs another sequel,it had a pretty cool and funny storyline at the same time, the Legends series was a very underated Megaman series indeed, but capcom is so damn busy with they're freaken Starforce(Ryusei no Rockman) Series, but hey,at least we're getting that long awaited new sequel to classic Megaman on the Wiiware
I loved Alisa Dragoon, one of the greatest overlooked games on the genesis. does anyone remember this one game on the genesis called El Viento? it was another pretty good overlooked anime-style game.

Ernest Evans(Gen,Mega-CD),El Viento (Gen) and Annet Futatabi (Mega-CD) are all part of that series.Yeah, some of us still remember (or still own) these games.

I've heard people say that.I grew up with the opposite experience.

Don't forget about that PS2 Jojo game. [BTW, please cover it in a future column, Todd!]
Chrono: People hated Legends, because they either wanted to stare at Lara's breasts, or because they were delusional enough to believe that Mario 64 was "innovative".

I thought Legends I and II and The Misadventures of Tron Bonne were decent.
The only innovative thing about N64 was their 3 pronged controller.IMO.

OMG... I loved MM Legends, both of them, and the Tron Bonne game. If they were to make another entry into either of these franchises, it would be a must-buy for me. Oh, pretty please, make it so.

People hated Legends because they wanted Mega Man 9 and X5 (at the time). Legends was too different. The character designs didn't mesh with a lot of gamers. The prominently featured voice acting was so-so (though not bad by any means), and unforgiving nonanime-fan-types didn't care for it. Might I add, in Legends 2 Megaman sounds like a little girl. Some conversations sounded weird as well, as this Megaman is "Rock Volnutt" or something to that effect. Not Rockman. First name, last name, no super hero pseudonym. Did Superman's parents name him Superman? No. That came later. They called him Clark. Imagine "Superman Kent, mild mannered reporter". In this case, using "Megaman" was not necessarily proper and again the translation team didn't take this into accout within the context of this "not quite so robotic" universe.
That said, I always loved MML. All translationy stuff aside, I always felt it was very shouneny, and the story tied into the main series quite nicely (for those who are paying attention). Cool characters, fascinating world, good humor, and a sometimes downright creepy plot made it an A+ title.
Edit: oh, and Mario 64 IS innovative. To this day it remains one of the most prominent examples of 3-D platforming at it's best, and it strangely has a better camera than almost all of 3-D platforms after it including Nintendo's own Super Mario Sunshine. Super Mario Galaxy is probably the closest thing to Mario 64's greatness in this realm, but MML as technologically meh as it may be still is awesome. I loved both back then and I adore them both now.

I loved that little comment about the Tales games having cliched characters.
It's so true...
