I was hoping they would mention something about Shigofumi. Too bad.
I'm not a Bandai Visual consumer, really, so I suppose this doens't affect me. Although, Blu-ray Diebuster sounds really nice.

I would like for them to release a gunbuster 2 boxset at a more reasonable price than the singles. Hopefully that happens at some point.

Major pet peeve of mine when it comes to anime related stuff, but BV was NEVER a parent to BEI!! More like cousin companies, but corporate parent is incorrect. Ask about me, I thrived on this irrelevant knowlegde back in tha day...

My copy of Freedom six is still "On Order From Manufacturer." I'm tempted on canceling it though since I'm probably going to buy the Blu-ray box set. I believe AoD has reviewed it, but it might have been an advance screener version.

Glad to see they're making an attempt to address the pricing.
Has anybody bought the Patlabor sets, and can they offer me their opinion? It's been on my 'to-buy' list for awhile, and now that I'll have some time stateside...

Quote: | The biggest point of contention that fans had with Bandai Visua USA's releases had to do with the prices at which they sold. This has been taken into account, and while Honneamise discs will be more expensive than standard American anime volumes, they will not be as pricy as the same volumes released in Japan. |
If they're $10-$20 more, and not $30-$50 more, I'll be ok with it. I agree with the argument that some of their titles are niche, and they have to charge more to justify a return. [Honneamise is a good example.] I just want more of those titles, and less of the moe. [Mind Game, Mind Game, Mind Game, dammit! And Nasu.] I'm also glad that dot-anime is still going to be around, since I enjoyed perusing their blog. The people at the company were nice; it's just the Japanese side which was short-sighted.
Getter: Patlabor movies are sweet; I just wish I got them when Izubuchi was @ AX; so I made up for it by getting Takada to autograph my booklets.

"Bandai," I thought. "This isn't Code Geass, or even Geneon. There is no way I can possibly mispronounce this name. I'm set." And then they go and do this. "Honneamise"? Is this punishment for not being able to afford to watch $40 dollar anime?
Curse you, consumer market, and your ability to accept expensive goods with a suitably expensive-sounding name.

Oh-nee-ah-meese.
I wouldn't be able to pronounce it either had I not seen that movie. They really could have gone with something a little less confusing.

Well, I guess I should be thankful that I've only bought the first two volumes of Freedom seeing as how the HDDVD version of volume 7 will never be. Although the "collector" in me would ideally like to own all six volumes, my income won't be all that disposable what with the Geneon rescues coming soon.
