Wow, this company is still active. Yesterday I was doing some reaserach about Gokudo, but I thought this company stopped making anime ages ago.
Eventually I will probably watch Slayers again some day. I did enjoy that series.

Am I reading this summary right? The new series is a remake of the first one?
LAME. Massive amounts of LAME.

Slayers Revolution is a remake of the original TV series? I read the description, and it definitly sounded familiar, but at the same time different. Just so I'm clear, is Slayers Revolution a remake of the original series?

Well, by the looks of things it's not exactly a remake as it's got Phibrizzo and Xellos in it. Sounds more like a mishmash of the first two Slayers series, with some new bits added.
I'll watch it regardless. Slayers was the first anime I saw, and it's still kinda fun in a goofy way.

Enoki doesn't make anime. They're a middleman shopping Japanese films to American importers.

A mishmash indeed. But whiskey tango? I see no mention of Zel in the description even though he is listed as a character in the encyclopedia. Plus, the news article synopsis is nothing like what is in the encyclopedia synopsis.

Hmm, you're right :/
Well, if in doubt go with the news article I guess - anyone and their dog could've entered the encyclopedia entry.

Sorry, I want to point out that these informations are wrong.
Slayers Revolution IS NOT a remake of the other series! It's a new story.
From the official website
Story:
In order to find a suitable replacement weapon for the sword of light which was lost in their previous battle, Lina and Gourry embark on a new travel.
Midway through their adventure they make a stop in the kingdom of Ruvina Gard to bully a band of pirates, where they happen to encounter Amelia and Zelgadis.
Though Lina is delighted to be reunited with her old friends, she is not so thrilled when the so-called "Inspector" of Ruvina Gard's Special Investigative Bureau, a man named Wizer, appears before her. However, Lina is terrified at this man's completely unexpected conduct...

AnimeNewsNetwork: the internet's most trusted anime news source... isn't it? well, looking at this articles it screams clearly a loudly NO!
Part I - Episodes #1-#13
The summary given in this section covers at the same time, all the 1st and 2nd seasons of the series (Slayers and NEXT)
Part II - Episodes #14-#26
This one is simple a kind of summary of second story arc of the main novels, that's novels 9 to 15.
Slayers REVOLUTION is a NEW anime season (that's a 4th season), neither a remake nor a mix of anime & novels... I thought right now everybody knew that, since the series is going to start in just 4 more days in Japan, but it seems that's not the case... keep a bit more of atention, boys.
If that article is ANN's, you should check better sources of information. If it's Enoki's... it seems that it doesn't know a thing about Slayers, and probably it doesn't care.

It's based off of Enoki's press release. ANN was simply paroting that. Frankly if the people trying to sell the rights are using bogus summaries, that's complete incopetance and bording on fraud. Not that Enoki has licensed anything recently...
So anyway, all you slayers fans hoping for a stateside release: You can rest easy knowing the a company who clearly knows next to nothing about the product is the one trying to sell the rights. Yay.

It's not even licensed yet. This Enoki films is nothing but a middleman trying to sell the show to an R1 company.
Of course, if Slayers is licensed I think it'd be a good bet that it'll get a dub: Slayers is one of the classic franchises that have been long popular in R1.

Uh, look at the title of the thread. Notice it doesn't say "NEWS:" at the beginning? Look at the URL of the press release. Notice it says "press-release"? Look at the front page. Notice that this press release is listed under..."RECENT PRESS RELEASES"? Do you still think it's a news article...or just maybe...a press release?

Yes, it's a press release from Enoki, ok, but right here it's inside a news site, and if a news site have that kind of news, it could be thought to be that, news. And, be it news, a press release, or whatever, being as wrong as it is, I wouldn't encourage to put that kind of things anywhere, that's all. You've clearly see that several people here took those summaries for real... that's the problem of having that kind of information in a site like this

So, it hasn't been aired yet? In other words, you haven't seen it and you don't really know what it's about? Yet you seem to have no problem yelling that we're spreading rumors and inaccuracies?
And it looks like these two posts are your only ones. Coupled with your C- grasp of grammar- Hmmm, idiot fanboy or viral marketer? You be the judge, ANN!
On a less confrontational note...
Thinking on it a little more, I think "Massive amounts of LAME" may have been overstating it. Given the fact that it's been- how long, a full decade?- since there was a Slayers series around, a little Cliff Notes summary will be helpful if they plan to do new stories. Whether or not it's necessary for it to take 13 episodes is debatable, however that's not necessarily a fatal flaw either. A story told many times can still be entertaining. I mean, the latest Bleach arc (latest on CN, at least) was pretty much an elaborate homage to the miniarc of Yu Yu Hakusho between the Dark Tournament and Chapter Black arcs, yet it provided an interesting story.
So I suppose we'll see what happens with the new Slayers. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be a *complete* rehash.
