I don't generally collect figures, but that is really frickin' awesome. Now I want one. Thanks a lot Rob.

Since he mentioned "other figures", that means there is a similarly awesome Unit 01 toy, right?

If I were into articulated figures, I'd be all over this. It sounds insane.
Also, somebody needs to make Evangelion gummy bears. |

Thanks for the great and hilarious read. Your column is great! I love reading about these toys, and also drooling all over them (I really want Lelouche now too, thanks.) |

Yep, that was the first one, 00 is the third release. I've been tempted by these for a while, they look amazing and put similar sized and priced figures to shame (MSRP is only about $65). My one and only complaint is that they're too clean, they lack that organic look that they're known for. A little shading or a quality black wash to give the armor some depth would have gone a long way on these. The glossy paint does work in their favor, though, and contrast well with the matte plastic body underneath. Emerje |

It all looks rather dashing. Now make one which can talk.

What is the first Unit shown? It looks 00 with a face lift?

Like the person above me asked, where would I go about buying these? Normally I'm not one for such things, but not only is it Evangelion, but it looks and sounds awesome. Admittedly the price is a bit steep for my taste, but it does sound very tantalizing.

Here are the Eva Chogokin figures released so far: http://www.hlj.com/hljlist2/?searchpage=top_page&Dis=-2&from=detail&Word=evangelion%20chogokin They've made them for all the Eva units, with the notable exception of the lovely mass production Evangelion (my favorite). The "Spec XS" ones are the new series like the one in the review.
The apostrophe in 00' just means it's the blue-painted version, as opposed to the yellow one in the first half of the series. It's pronounced and sometimes written "Eva-00 Kai." I would love to have one of these Chogokin figures. I like that you get to put the armor on and everything, kind of like a model kit. |

The Soul of Chogokin has probably been the most solid mecha figure line in the last couple of years. The accuracy and craftsmanship that the mechs have compared to their on-screen counterparts is amazing. Even though the toy line is pricey, the detail put into the figures is well worth the price. Hopefully, seeing all these EVA figures as part of the series is a good sign that we'll see Gurren Lagann mechs in the near future, which would be incredibly awesome. Some Code Geass mech figures would be great as well.
