"The pretty drawings and heartfelt scenes are nice, but with the plot going nowhere and the characters all being asses to each other,..."
haha so true. and yet it's the only tsundere harem i know of.
and i'm thinking that opinion on soul eater is just a troll like the Yotsuba& one. i mean, did some kid really just say that soul eater is anything like harry potter?

That soul eater review seems really out of place to me, not to mention totally off center.
I've read Harry Potter, and I've been watching soul eater. To say that the two universes are so closely linked is a long stretch, to say the least. Yeah, soul eater is a shonen series, but it's doing its job of being entertaining and nice to look at. I really like the animation style and the fight scenes are pretty fluidly drawn. Especially this last episode with Dr. Stein.
I wouldn't be so harsh in tearing it down, it looks like it will provide a great amount of entertainment before the series is through.

Also, while we're all disagreeing with the Soul Eater review, I thought Black Star was a parody of Naruto. I mean, he's exaggerated beyond the point of it just being an accident. When he's being super annoying, he's pretty much exactly Naruto. When he's being cool, he's being your regular shounen-fare cool character guy.
And the Hogwarts comparison is complete crap -- almost ludicrous enough for me to laugh out loud. To think that:
any story w/ people learning things at a school + fantasy setting = harry potter rip-off...
well, that's dumb. Schools are such an obvious place-setting for the development of 'Hero-protagonist' characters, especially when you consider the age group that the Japanese are obsessed with when it comes to most anime and manga.

I will surrender that point to you, lol.
