Okay, I have 2 box sets of Saiyuki, can somebody please tell me how many episodes are in the original Saiyuki? I must be missing some because it doesn't end! Or does it just turn into Saiyuki Reload? Thanks!!!

It's times like this when the Encyclopedia comes in handy:
anime#965 I don't think you're missing anything...the lack of an ending is the show's fault. |

Sorry, I guess I should've checked the encyclopedia... That was dumb, sorry for the stupid question. I hate how a lot of animes lack an ending anymore or their episodes go on until there's over 300.

I had the same feeling - after I finished all the 50 episodes, I was quite confused where the end was. There are some sequels out already, however I do not think you will get a proper end (if there is any) until the whole original manga is released and it is still on going. So maybe another 300 episode serial (but with different parts' names).

Yeah, this has been my annoyance with this show as well. I really started liking Saiyuki, it had a lot of really good stuff going for it. Saiyuki Reload wasn't as good for a number of reasons, and when it still didn't end, I held out hope for the conclusion in Saiyuki Gunlock...silly me, you think I would have learned. I like this series less and less the longer it goes on with no satisfying conclusion. I do hope there is one some day, but I may not care at all by then. |

They've actually gone the opposite direction from providing an ending and released a prequel Saiyuki Reload: Burial (OAV) recently.
