Since I know people are going to ask why it took us so long to post this, I figured I should answer the question right off the bat.
The short answer is: It took ANN till today to verify the facts. It seems that the initial news posting on ICv2 did not come from an official Bandai PR source, and I wasn't going to post about statements attributed to Bandai if they weren't going to confirm their veracity.
Today Cartoon Network confirmed the information for me, and the article is written appropriately.

I figured as much. The pieces fit together just too well. Toonami already has a Gundam property, Zeta getting on Cartoon Network is about as likely as Satan getting in a snowball fight, the new April Action Block always had that gaping hole in its lineup...
This is good news. This is very good news.

Excuse me while I melt into a puddle of pure happy. *Melt* That was fun. Now, I'm off to spread the good news! I guess now we can all stop speculating and start speculating.

I'm worried about the dub cast which has only a few recognizable names in it. It has alot of unknowns in it compared to the cast of Witch Robin Hunter which has some great talent in it. If Gundam Seed is supposed to be the revival of Gundam, wouldn't the dub cast would be top notch?

It would seem logical to me that they would try to do everything as best they could for this release. Some of these unknowns may find their big break, so to speak, when this show's popularity skyrockets. With all of the money associated with this release, (merchandise, advertisement, etc.) they will probably make sure everything is nailed down.

Saturday Action Block is Adult Swim. That's where Wolf's Rain and the new Inu-Yasha season are going to be aired, too.

They absolutely need to run 0079 once through in its entirety beforehand, then. Or at least air the movie trilogy. Elsewise Zeta'll be doomed to failure; viewers don't like to be confused by only getting part of a story.

They've been saying on Adult Swim that they're expanding to Saturday, and the Action Block's two other shows -- Wolf's Rain & Inu-Yasha -- are undeniably Adult Swim properties.

From what i understand the Saturday block is still there, but they are shortening it. I just find it odd that they want to Seed to be the next big thing, but put it on Adult Swim. Oh well it is a Saturday night so it doesn't matter

A Toonami release isn't a sole constituent of the popularity of a show. (Though it certainly helps) With all the hype associated with SEED before CN ever looked at it twice, it stands to reason that SEED is going to be immensely popular wherever it airs. CN likely knows this, and figures that with Toonami doing exceptionally well anyway, the AS could air SEED and receive a huge popularity increase. Toonami will do just fine with its DBGT episodes, as well as new YYH episodes.

Well the reasoning is not only has to do with ratings. Bandai wants to sell action figures, model kits, and video games. Having it air on toonami allows them to reach the audience that holds the highest potential than Adult Swim. Since Adult Swim is on saturday now, that audience has a chance to see Seed as opposed to a week night run which would have limited that audience.
