(Edit: This is in reply to animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-04-10/crunchyroll-posts-druaga-episode-1-back-online , by the way).
Glad it's back -- opinions of Crunchyroll aside, the full-res non-DRM XVID downloads come pretty close to my ideal distribution model. Looks like they finally fixed their PayPal Checkout link, too. Hope its being broken before didn't put too many people off the whole thing. I was certainly hesitant to give CR my credit card info. Another edit: The Portuguese fan-created softsubs are still available, so presumably rumours of their being the reason for the video's removal were unfounded. |

Not necessarily since we don't know why it was taken down. For all you know it could have been needing a permission from somewhere to do this or it could have been uploaded again without permission since that feature was not turned off when the video was reinstated.
I was up there when the video was reinstated and there were no Portugese subtitles originally. I still suspect that those subtitles were reloaded without permission again. |

I don't know how stupid they are over at Crunchyroll, but I doubt they're stupid enough to leave the feature enabled after spending the last few days sorting out the problem it caused. There is still a possibility that user-uploaded subs were the problem but Gonzo has now OKed them, admittedly... I'm just not sure of what evidence there is to support it over any other theory. |
