Oh god, even by the trailer they sure committed well to make literally EVERYTHING wrong even with such completely simple-minded material as Kakegurui is - that it make even the Japanese live-action adaptation, let alone the anime (and both of them people can watch on very same Netflix) look decent.
Really, with the amount of trying poorly imitating the crazy wackiness of the characters that instead looks nothing but the cringe acting (like, do I even supposed to be actually scared of this kind of Yumeko, who's looking nothing like pretty calculating schemer with the pure addiction to gamble - and totally not like an insane person who trying to act as dumb girl who is excited literally by any type of games?), completely deleting the characters (I don't think I see any Mary-like character in the trailer, so that means no existence of that dynamic pairing with Yumeko either), and trying to introduce some sort of shitty mystery detective along with some "we got Hunger Games at home" scenes - are they sure trying to understand to what they commit that looks like is not a big money waste (or worse - the money laundering scheme) that is most likely not survive for more than one season?

Well, I guess it does look like an Americanized version of Kakeguri (probably for the worse).
Also they couldn't have at least kept Mary as a blonde? That would've been easier than some of their other attempts to adapt the manga designs.

I see they're going for the "if you loved Netflix's live-action Cowboy Bebop, you'll love BET!" crowd.

I think they replaced Mary with a guy.
How do you screw that up? In an effort, I presume to avoid the yuri trappings for the male gaze, you changed one of the most popular side characters into a guy? This is from the same guy who blandified Warrior Nun, but that had LGBT relationships. By deleting Mary, not only to do you get rid of a really popular character, you also lose a lot of the hints Yumeko was bisexual.

Heck, even Cowboy Bebop not really massacred the material that hard.
This is looks like bastardization of Death Note all over again.

Well, if it's actually that (and when I looked at two guys, I thought "why do they really need two Suzui replacements, considering Suzui is basically sort of observer function character that exist solely for the non-gambling readers/viewers" (because Kakegurui rarely go with the simple games) and it's actually one of them is Mary replacement - they already nicely shot themselves to the foot.
Also heck, if they want to get out and blandifiying the LGBT content in Kakegurui - that means they most likely throw out of the window the Kirari/Sayaka (or whatever they are replaced with) relationship - which is full-on display lesbian with no zero thoughts.

I guess I'm left kind of wondering why this exists when Netflix already licensed the Japanese live action version? If Netflix is that interested in more Kakegurui, I'd rather they put that towards a season 3.

Different productions and management, obviously.
As for season 3 - it's obviously that MAPPA cannot do it any sooner considering it requires Hayashi and it's pipeline to be freed of work - as he's obviously busy with his wanted for long time Dorohedoro sequel.

Kakegurui is a shounen manga so all the overly sexual elements of the show including the yuri elements are made to be fanservice for the male readers. I have no doubt there will be actual LGBT stuff in this adaption since it's Netflix and they always add that stuff in their adaptions but they want to make sure it's the 'right' kind of gay; similar to why they completely rewrote Gren in Cowboy Bebop.
