It kind of surprised me that this Yakuza game will be a limited exclusive for the Switch 2, especially since the Yakuza dev team avoided releasing their games on Nintendo hardware after the failure of Yakuza 1+2 on the WiiU and by the comments made by the former series director, Toshihiro Nagoshi, which seemed to be still in the minds of the rest of the team even after his departure. And I know that Kiwami was released on the Switch not that long ago and that it sold well, but I don't think it's possible the development for this remaster started after Kiwami was a success on the original Switch

So, what, are they going to directors cut dub all the Yakuza series at this point?

I do like the idea of snubbing a game getting a dub as if this is like the original version of 1. Which only had the English dub.

I'm inclined to agree. I'm going through the games chronologically, and currently on 3. It puts it in kind of an awkward spot where I'm sure it seemed like a big step up from the PS2 games, but is a regression from Kiwami. I'm not even talking about the graphics since I can easily set that aside based on when a game released. It's the quality of life stuff that makes me wish there was a Kiwami 3.

I wouldn't put it past them. It's something to throw in for a re-release, and there was a big uptick in the series starting with Like a Dragon, which had a dub. There are almost certainly people who played those who haven't gone back to play the older games, and are used to playing them with an English dub.

Like I said, I'm playing through these games chronologically, so I'm used to the Japanese voices. I'm normally a dub watcher, but I expect that since I've experienced the series without it first, I probably will stick to that when I get to Like a Dragon.
