Having seen the original years ago I wonder how can be this considered a sequel, and why this property for the Chinese market? I doubt the name would ring a bell considering how old the original series is.

It was pretty popular in China. I remember buying the VCDs from my local Chinatown about a decade ago.

I have no familiarity with the original but this looks adorable. I could definitely see this doing well with the overseas crowds.

Should be called a spin-off, not remake or sequel......If you like the original, this is probably not for you.
