This was a decent movie. It'll be nice to buy it for real and not be tricked into a bootleg.

Now the real question is whether the theatrical version will be subbed or dubbed.

Yippee! Bleach in the movie theaters.
If they want to make money on it, it had better be dubbed for the theaters imo.

Excellent. It's always good to see any Anime hit the big screen.I missed my chance for One Piece,Ghost in the shell 2 and Vampire hunter D:Bloodlust when they hit theaters.I saw the few Miyazaki movies that came out,but that caliber doesn't really count.Of course I ignored Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh."If pictures of that got out,It would end my career". Pokeballs(cause Monsterballs sounds nasty)and Dual cards are weak.I'm a POG man myself.I still got a ton of Anime pogs.

I wonder if they'll use the special OP/ED to promote the movie.
I doubt it though.

That is one STUPID title... it sounds like it belongs on a parody of some melancholy Oscar-bait.

The first movie was pretty good in my opinion. It didn't break any new grounds in cinema or animation but it was entertaining to watch.

The title makes more sense after you watch the movie. It mostly deals with the plot of the movie and isn't really revealed till near the very end. If you're interested in finding out you can either look it up or buy it when it comes out here in the States.

I am tempted to watch it.
Question, should I watch the show before the movie? I have seen some of Bleach and have a basic idea of it, but not much beyond a few season 1 episodes and some of season 2.

The movie takes place somewhere between Seasons 3 and 4 (roughly), so I'd advise finishing up 3, otherwise you might be confused as to why Ichigo is suddenly on good terms with people who've been trying to kill him

I'm not really sure what you're counting as "seasons," but the movie takes place after the Soul Society arc, so it's pretty thoroughly spoiler-ish for all events through that point in the series.

If you know who Toushirou Hitsugaya and Rangiku Matsumoto are, you're golden. Just remember: this doesn't fit between episodes xx and xx, it's just there, but definitely after Soul Society has been introduced.
@BloodshotLint:
If this were a film festival, we'd have a chance for subbed. Alas, this will be more mainstream, and we can't expect Americans to be interested in subtitles in a regular movie theater. But it's better than no movie at all! I really do love having anime movies in theaters! I swear!
I can't wait until they figure out how to dual stream movies in a theater... like I watch the movie with subtitles and listen to the original cast, the little kid down the way can have their English version
Does this mean we have to wait two years for the 2nd movie to be licensed? I hope they get their stuff together and put it out soon (I'm looking at you, Summer 2009!!) And I'm way too sleep-deprived if I think it's funny that they are releasing an originally winter-release movie in the summer. Sleep is good. Pesky retarded forum wackiness bad.

I do remember some characters using attacks that may be new to casual viewers if they missed some episodes or haven't seen any of the currently running 3rd season. On a related note, Rukia's zanpaku-to release is shown in animated form for the first time, which won't appear in the U.S. TV version for many, many episodes and (to my knowledge) hasn't even appeared in the U.S. manga yet. Aside from those parts, casual Bleach viewers shouldn't have any trouble with it if they've seen a decent amount of episodes to understand how the series works.
