Still wish this had been made as a TV series rather than movies.

It’s about [expletive] time! Why Netflix dragged their feet and held onto this for so long is beyond my comprehension.

Better late than never, of course, but Sailor Moon deserved better treatment.

Oracle: Toupee was probably asking for more than it was worth.

These two movies were easily my favorite part of Crystal, and I'm looking forward to rewatching them dubbed.

I do too, but I will say, I think Cosmos worked better than Eternal did. The movie format suits Stars more than Dream.

If the script is done by Netflix again, I'm gonna have to watch it in sub only.
The choices they made made the dub hard to watch, so I was hoping for a different company and/or a theatrical release.
I'm secretly hoping that Terri Hawkes would play Sailor Cosmos tbh, it would make it just come full circle in the most wholesome way.

Don't know how involved Netflix was with the dub, but Eternal was recorded at Todd Hoboken's studios.
For Cosmos, maybe somebody else is handling it?

That makes sense. I’m glad it’s finally getting a release.

I'm glad this finally got picked up for streaming but I wonder what was holding it up all this time. I don't buy the arguments that the union strike was holding it up because Netflix released tons of other anime during the strike without problem and anime dubbing wasn't part of the strike at the time. The most believable explanation I heard was rumors Toei was charging an obscene amount for the film rights which fits in with how Toei has operated with their other works before. But I'm glad this got picked up and I'm excited to finally watch all of it as I've been holding out for the Netflix release to watch the full movie.

Why would Toei purposely charge more for Cosmos, but then their other movies (minus Pretty Cure All Stars F) get Western releases?

Because, comparatively, there isn't much of a market for PreCure in the West. Sailor Moon has global draw whereas PreCure is largely limited to Asia. Offering a property that doesn't have a large market in the west for cheap makes sense as it's a good way to possibly build a future market here. There's no need to do that with Sailor Moon.

Funimation literally owns Dragon Ball because of historical nepotism and Toei has had a working relationship with Shout Factory through past Digimon movies and they want to maintain that continuity with the Western market. Sailor Moon is a highly prized IP and lots of companies will bid for the rights that drive up licensing costs. Toei also probably didn't want the Netflix streams to cut into their profits while they were playing in Japanese theaters.

The literal script wasn't Netflix's fault. Their hands were tied.

Sorry, I'm using Netflix as a catch all because I know the changes were done once they acquired the rights. I just wonder why such a bizarre change was allowed after Viz Media handled the series for so long, and better. It's mostly the choice of using honorifics that made it hard to watch in English. I prefer Crystal over Classic when watching the dub.
On a side note, I guess because the last two seasons were in movie form they sold it to Netflix? No real idea. This is also a bummer because I would prefer to buy it on home video than use a streaming service to access it.
