I think that Shoin being found out to be a villain would be a more obvious/boring twist. He already set himself up on the surface as a would-be romantic rival, that the pivot to being a spy would be the easy turn to remove him.

I agree that having the whole lodge unite would be a fun dynamic, certainly more fun than watching a shy girl emotionally torture herself. As to Shion, I dunno. The dude's a bit of an enigma wrapped up in a doorknob casing wrapped up in a flaky pastry.

Well, at least I know what I mean...

Episode 8

Shion does seem like the most likely traitor candidate now that y'all reminded me that he exists. But even if he is, I think there's a chance that he might be a "good" traitor in that his actions are motivated by what he thinks is the right thing for Mira ultimately. Or maybe he really is just your run of the mill Backstabber Von Backstabberstein. Oh, Aoi-chan, how I long to soothe your troubled heart...

There does seem to be something up with Shion given his reaction this week and the end of the episode. He might be the traitor or has some silly secret and the show is using him as a red herring. Otherwise episode 9 offered some solid character development, the romance was actually handled well for once and even eternal unemployed dad got a bit fleshed out.

Yah, I was worried that the show was going to spend the rest of the season flailing around in the weeds with Aoi Chan becoming increasingly miserable and stooping to desperate behavior, which would be about as fun as a weekly dentist trip. But a lot of the elements that were becoming stale got aired out this week. Putz-san manned up and was open and hones with Aoi, who took it well. Dog-chan showed signs of developing a real bond with Aoi and stopped being such a hemorrhoid. And even Bum-pai showed some redeeming qualities.

Good stuff.

Nice to see Teruko getting some shine and hopefully she will find her big break someday. Between this episode and the Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night one from a while back there have been multiple grown up idols this season. Otherwise the episode felt a bit different in that you can sense that the show is speeding up and heading towards an ending. Given the theme of doing what you love I expect that Mira will soon have to choose what she wants in life.

Is this a one season and go show? :Kind of a shame if true. It got a little bit off track for me with the Aoi has an owie arc, but it's picked back up again. I'd kind of like to see the residents get gradually pulled in deeper into interplanetary intrigue for a while.

On the other hand, I don't know how this show is doing popularity wise, so maybe it would be a good thing if it did wrap things up.

Between Matsubara and Shizue Baba from Jellyfish Can't Swim, this has been the season of older idols still doing their thing and not caring.

Huh, content wise I am very happy with the newest episode. We got resolution to the whole key situation with it actually having been in view multiple times (plus the wild sequence that came at the end). We also got the reveal that Shoin was indeed a pathetic villain, the situation between Naosuke and Aoi was made clearer and we even had Ren his secret getting out.

Again, all of those things are great and the whole of Astro Note standing together against the aliens is a great way to end things. The big problem is that all of those things happened in a single episode and boy did it feel rushed.

So Astro Lodge was a spaceship cool, a voltron like space ship even cooler. Though nothing beats Yu Gi Oh Go Rush when it comes to secret ships, that was a whole town.

So Shoin is he with the Hobbies or not? Is his real face a fish face?

Episode 11

I was a bit confused about Shoin, myself. At first, I thought maybe his whole thing was that he didn't want to wait and was taking Mira back to Wid early. But the Hubbies were definitely helping him so I guess he is a Hubby spy too. Also, I completely forgot the significance of that small key that Mira saw in the box... what was that for again?

That small key was a lure that they used in an earlier episode to draw out the Hubbies, the plan ended with one of those robot thingies stealing the key. Shoin having said key means that he is the master of those robots and thus a hubby, Mira realising that is the reason she got put in a box.

I thought it was interesting that all of Shoin's amazing fighting abilities were apparently the result of choreographed stage fights.

And I also thought it was pretty cool that the house is one big rocket. That part reminded me of a short story called the "House on Maple Street" by Stephen King that was obviously Ray Bradbury influenced.

And I liked that Aoi and not-a-dog-san mended a few fence slats.

Overall, good stuff.

A slightly rushed final episode (though it did wrap up everything) yet I would say that it felt like a proper conclusion in line with how the show has been. Astro Note was certainly no masterpiece and some elements (in particular the romance) were not all that great. That said, the show has lots of spunk/heart and managed to be entertaining enough to keep looking forward to the next episode.

It was a good show. I mean did it live up to his full prudential no, but still a good watch.

What hurt a little for me and no fault of the show, you don't control what other anime air in the season, and what other anime, but I watched this show and season 3 of Konosuba, and those that watch that show as well know were I am going, and that is the villain, he is pretty much the same character as the Konosuba season 3 villain. Granted he does get a some what happy ending, oppose to the duke.

Anyway I am glad with the conclusion for most of these characters, though I do wonder what happened on the home planet, maybe they decide to become a democracy.
