I was pretty cool that this is a just a cute anime with gay parents, and then I did practically a spit take when alphas and omegas were brought up. So, this isn't just a cute LGBT positive anime, this is a part of the Omegaverse, which has a number of separate baggage attached to it.

I am not the most knowledgeable on Omegaverse stuff, but I know that it wolf related with things like pheromones, and generally very sexually charged with how genitals and who can get who pregnant. My impression is that hardest it can be the sort reputation that furriers can get, minus necessarily animal stuff, and maybe some problematic of consent. I guess making a super cute slice of life parenting anime in one is a bit of a choice.

Even though I have some real issues with omegaverse stuff, I've been watching this anyway. What amazes me is that they've been able to get away with more intimacy and affection than any anime series I've seen that has actually possible people in it. Which just makes me wish they were an adoptive gay couple or a gay couple with a trans parent or something.

Anyway, the kids are cute as all get out, and I got a real kick out of Hikari writing indecipherable letters every day to deliver to Ran-kun, asking to be his friend. Ran-kun is their new neighbor's golden retriever who Hikari is terrified of, but is nevertheless obsessed with. Hikari's first errand to mail a letter was pretty funny too, since he never made it to the mailbox because he kept getting distracted and coming back home with things or people he found on the way.

I guess I'm kinda warming up to it overall, I just adjust my head cannon to make Masato a trans man with his gay husband and just tune out the alpha-omega stuff. Smile
