You know, it might just be time to bail on the hyumans and let them cook while having a far better time working with the demons. There are some good hyumans in the show......but those few are a very small minority in a sea of scumbags.

Hmmm, the demons are the ones looking a lot less trustworthy this week so at this point neither side seems all that great to be honest. The city is probably going to get demolished judging by the end of this week's episode, seems like a dozen or so mutants are going to emerge and start going ballistic.

Yah, not a lot of obvious good options here. Be a shut in, or try to figure out the lesser of two scum bags. That said, Makato has already formed relationships with his students and some former adventurers, so I'd hate to see him abandon humankind. Or hyumankind I suppose. And I'd like to think that when he's packing that much raw power, with magic as flexible as it is, he can't really be without leverage or options in dealing with a merchants guild.

Well, depending on how those 49 or so mutants left in the city go apeshit there might not be much left of anything (let alone a guild). It does represent an opportunity at the same time though, the students get to show off their progress and the Kuzohana company can show of how strong they are by cleaning up the mess.

That leaves the heroes being set up for defeat but I am having difficulty caring for them (especially the rapey one). There is also the prince/princess and retaking the territory issues for later.

I kind of liked Mio's "Oops, how sad, another one of those merchants who was in our way got killed by a "demon" during the rampage idea.

But it looks like Makato wants to reclaim the sister's homeland from the demons and turn it into a kind of port for the demi-plane. Meanwhile the demons want to claim another human nation that Makato wants to protect. That means a double loss for the demons if Makato succeeds on both counts.

Mio was also rather vindictive this week. The fleshy blob could have gone to the hero and helped her on her quest making for a fine redemption story but nah no dice. Meanwhile multiple cities are getting wrecked and the Kuzohana company now has a prime opportunity to shine (no thanks to that idiot of a headmaster). I do wonder how his visit to the merchant guild will go though.

I'm not sure I understand Makato's hesitation in stepping up directly in a "Lives are being taken every second I stand here with the power to stop it" kind of way since he's already decided to go against the demons for tricking him in this particular case. He seems to be spending a lot of time standing around waiting instead of actively sending his people running through different parts of the city toward every sign of smoke or carnage and blasting mutates left and right. If it's a calculated move to make hyumanity reach their limit so they'll value him more, he's being pretty cold. If it's some ideological "Let hyumanity have a chance to act with their own agency first" stance, it's pretty abstract to me.

I take it the king knew Makato's dad?

And the greater dragon's desire that Makato become strong enough to kill the goddess ruining...I mean, "running" the world was a reminder of the series' ultimate direction.

The Mio scene is a reminder that she's still an engine of destruction at heart, even if that's been somewhat mitigated by her capacity for affection. I'm not feeling too bad for Ilumgard though. Since he basically took a desire to apologize and somehow turned it into doubling down on acting like an @$$hole, playing dirty in a tournament, and making a pact with forces of darkness, I'm not convinced he would have taken his desire for revenge against demons and done anything productive or sensible or noteworthy with it. He seems like one of those people who, if you gave them lemons, would try to make a weak kind of pepper spray.

A lot of lost details from the source material are to blame. Makoto is now taking a position that it isnt worth saving the people who demand corrupt behaviour of him unless he benefits. So he provided refuge for civilians in the slums (mostly skipped) and let the monsters destroy the Rich and Merchant districts (almost entirely skipped).

He is knowingly letting the high merchants, who wanted him to subordinate himself to them or secure political leverage, get destroyed. And securing favours and a heroic image with the ruling factions. Otherwise he is not interfering with the demons plan.

Makoto's ignorance in failing to see the impact of his shop on other merchants without securing backers in this society or the co-operation of members of the merchants guild lead to his dressing down. But he isnt going to conform to hyuman society.

What has changed between the original and the anime is that Makoto is not being as coldly vindictive. In the Web Novel his motivation became I will only act for my own benefit and let everyone else burn. But in the anime his motivation is being: I will secure the most benefit for my actions and allow my enemies to destroy one another. This way he can still protect the people Makoto most likes selling to. The normal everyday people. In the web novel Makoto almost went to be the hero but gave up on the idea, in the anime he still gets to be a hero but a selective one.

What interests me right now is Lily. I wonder what devious plans she has for ingratiating herself with (from her perspective) Kuzuhona.

Given how must hyumans are I can't really blame him. It does create quite the contrast though, on one hand you have the mutants tearing shit apart while Makoto and the gang are just postering a lot.

That makes sense and is entirely consistent with what we've seen so far. I do wish they'd included those details.

That said, I've liked the second season better than the first, which is rare and a good thing.

Quite a lot of interesting happenings in this week's episode. I particularly like the conversation between the two merchants. Yes, it is easy to brand that one merchant leader as an asshole and be done with it, reality is thankfully not that black and white and he makes a lot of valid points, anyway, from the looks of things Makoto is getting some more supporters.

Otherwise the mutants are getting dealt with pretty easily and all that is left in the city is to deal with the traitor and the remainders. As for the other attacks going on, I want to say that the heroes got this but judging from the OP things do not look all that great. They did mention some of those skipped details btw.

Oh right, fudge the headmaster, that guy is the worst kind of person for a crisis.

A couple of episodes ago we had a week in which all they did was posture and deal with a single mutant, this week was the opposite and all hell broke loose. Meeting the goddess again (and having some nice sarcastic/venomous back and forth), setting off an invasion (that poor demon saying son was smacked into oblivion) and soon meeting up with the heroes, a lot happened.

Sounds like the goddess has some kind of oversight committee to deal with.

I've really been impressed by this anime's second, two course season. I stuck with season 1, and this season had a few episodes when it first switched to the academy setting where I didn't know or care about a bunch of people and plots I didn't really have anything invested in, but this anime has completely pulled me in.

First I am gonna preface this by saying I do not know who it was so I am speculating, being on the tsukimichi subreddit hasn't spoiled me to this one.

I would be most amused if the muscle head mentioned happened to be Susano, Tsukuyomi's brother. Know for his drunken rampages in mythology. It would fit his profile to accidentally rescue people by barging into things. Having the goddess agree to leave Makoto alone for the price of taking fortress stella ironically may bind the goddesses hands in her treatment of him.

I really like this intriguing possibilities in story telling. It shows a skill in writing beyond your cliche power moments of typical isekai.

And thus Makoto finally meets one of the other heroes, both heroes are wearing rather embarrassing outfits though. Seems like the giant is going to get rocked next week while the dragonslayer and a greater dragon (fun combo) are also on the way. I have to give credit to the pervert hero, he managed to perform a lot better than I expected him to.
