Is it just me or did they change the design of the character?

So they change the art style a little and basically recast everybody but Kenjiro Tsuda? Like...why!?

I don't get that either. The description of what R is in relation to the prior one is kind of unclear, and it almost seems like the casting choices almost reflect that they didn't know for sure if this was more of a sequel or a reboot.

WTF?! What was wrong with the OG cast? They were great!

Ikr? I highly doubt this is plot related and this is REALLY weird since this kinda thing normally doesn't happen in JP dubs...

I remember that it was awful, and they don't ever had the yellow Rem anymore.

I believe that Demon Lord, Retry! R is the sequel to the original. I have been reading R and it seems like a continuation of the original. Unlike the original, the world has been expanded.
Don't know about the art style, perhaps a change in the mangaka, or the anime studio.
Good news anyway, since I to thought there wouldn't be a second season.

People asking about why characters look different... I mean, the staff list is literally right there, guys. Completely different staff and studio from the first season.

Not exactly the same but this reminds me of Grimoire of Zero -> The Dawn of the Witch: a gap in content between S1 and S2.
Can't remember any other instance when recast happened without being a reboot (e.g. Fruba) and while original cast were still alive/active.

Boy, I didn't remember this one at all until I read my own review of it from 2019. The first season did end on a "to be continued" note, but I definitely wasn't expecting that to actually happen after five years. It's not like this was one of the better isekai series (even among the light-hearted ones), either.
