NEWS: AMC Settles Class Action Lawsuit Regarding AMC+, HIDIVE, Other Services' Violations of Privacy

I can't keep up with these settlements. I think I got Facebook, Crunchyroll, Verizon and now this? Waiting to see if I get the email sometime this month or early March.

And yup, like y'all said, I got the email an hour ago. Claim sent!

Geez is netflix next? I always assume every streaming service is attempting to sell my information nowadays.

I would not put it past so many pirating and official streaming sites to do this, even if one submits a "Do Not Sell My Info"-type request.

When did HiDive launch and how has it been doing?

HiDive launched two and a half years ago. The growth has been fantastic. We went from just a handful of users to floating around 300,000 users right now. It’s [subscription video on demand] SVOD, so it doesn’t have advertising.

When I first started ADV, there was VHS and LaserDisc. Then we saw DVD transfer. Then we saw the transfer to BluRay. Then Apple launched QuickTime and I saw that and I’m like, “OK, this party’s going to be over at some point.” ADV actually started to build a streaming site at one point, but that had to go on hiatus around 2003.

Flash forward, once Sentai had a library of content to build a streaming site, we started working on HiDive. We started working on it around four years ago.

The "submit claim" page just says "If you received a personalized notice in the mail or via email with a Notice ID and Confirmation Code, please enter the codes you were provided below."

And, uh, I don't see anything like that in my inbox?

That's what it says on the claim, yes:

You are included in the Settlement Class if you are an individual residing in the United States who, from January 18, 2021, to and through January 10, 2024: (1) was a registered user of AMC Services and (2) requested or obtained video content on at least one of the six AMC Services.

Also, Sentai, you were supposed to be the good guys, not join the bad ones. Hoping it was more on AMC than Sentai here.

Consumers who used the AMC+, Shudder, Acorn TV, ALLBLK, SundanceNow, and/or HIDIVE services on an online website, mobile app, or streaming service controlled by AMC between January 18, 2021 and January 10, 2024 are eligible to receive a share of the settlement fund. Eligible users must submit a claim form by May 16.

And, uh, I don't see anything like that in my inbox?
