Dusk Bracelet, Twilight Bracelet, and Tasogare no Udewa Densetsu are all the same show. Beyond that, I'm afraid I cannot be of much help.
I THINK each .hack series is indepedent of the others, and the only real connection is that they all involve strange occurrences in The World, but since I've only seen eight episodes of .hack//SIGN, I can't be certain.

You would be correct in thinking so .Hack//liminality, .hack//Legend of Dusk Bracelet,
.hack//Legend of Twilight Bracelet are all continuations of eachother more or less and are parts of the .hack//infection, mutation, outbreak, quarentine games. So if you wanted to get the full story you'll have to play the games.
If you want to start getting into .hack you should start with the .hack//sign series, if for no more reason than its the predecessor to the ovas//games. However, its a fairly slow paced anime with plot twists and turns that match eva at points (in my humble opinion). However, its a beutiful anime with amazing animation and music. So as long as you can keep up with the story you should enjoy it immensly (or at least i did).
Hope I was of some help.

I think the timeline goes something like this:
.hack//SIGN episode 27 Intermezzo
.hack//SIGN
.hack//LIMINALITY and PS2 games
.hack//SIGN episode 28 Unison
.hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT (a.k.a. .hack//DUSK)

That timeline seems about right, but the fact of the matter is that the liminality, legend of twilight, etc. have noting really to do with .hack//sign. Other than the fact that they're based in "The World". Sure a few characters from .hack//sign show up, like Helba and you'll run into some characters using the same skins as characters from the .hack//sign series.
The games go as follows:
.hack//infection
.hack//mutation
.hack//outbreak
.hack//quarentine
and each comes with a 45 minute or so anime dvd. Only on PS2 though, which is fine by me as xbox is the devil.

Are you trying to start a flame war here?
Please don't say such things -- especially when I'm around -- lest you want us both banned for fighting.

No I don't mean to start a flame war, sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone. I just made the comment on a whim, I didn't think anyone would take it seriously. While I do favor my PS2, I don't really have an opinion about the Xbox one way or another. Please excuse me.

Understood and forgiven. Sorry for going off like that...I've hung around too many other forums where people just start inane "my console is better than your console and you're a ___ for liking it!" arguments all the time, so I've grown a bit weary of even the hints of one starting. Personally, I really have no overt biases against any of the consoles, and I see each one as having enough merit to warrant respect (I just chose to get an XBox over the others because it had more games suited to my personal tastes).

I just bought my copy of .hack//Quarantine, and when I watched the accompanying DVD, there was an extra "episode," I guess you could call it, called .hack//GIFT. It was pretty funny and had all the characters from .hack//SIGN and the PS2 games interacting to find an online Onsen (Hot spring) and solve a murder mystery. It was very funny, but I was just wondering if this fits into the storyline anywhere, or if it's like a DBZ or One Piece movie (Same characters and location, but no connection to the actual story).

I saw .hack//gift recently as well, and ,as you could probably tell by the animation style alone, its just that a gift. A funny little tidbit for fans of the anime. I thought it was great how they brought in characters from .hack//sign as well as characters from the games. Bandai really gave its fans a nice present and for that I salute them, err or offer them thanks of some nature.

Sorry. Nothing against the X-Box, or any system, but I just can't resist. The quote just reminds me of a potential movie scene.
[Scene]
[Music="Devil Came down to Georgia."]
Bobby: Mama. Are dey any dot hack games for da Ecks Box?
Mama: Bobby Boucher. Don't you talk no crazy talk. Dey ain't NO games for da Ecks Box. Ecks Box is da Devil!
[/Scene]
For the record, I own the Gamecube, and am lamenting the lack of good games (outside of MGS:TS) being offered this year.

If you were wondering about content wise of the .hack universe:
.hack//Sign - A kid is stuck in a virtual, gaming world, and he befriends some other players who try to help him comeback to the physical world. This anime mostly features the characters talking about how to free the stuck player and the mysterious power holding him in the virtual world. I am enjoying this and can't wait for the sixth disc.
.hack//Legend of Twilight Bracelet - Twin brother and sister haven't seen each, but both win special characters in the World (same gaming world as .hack//Sign). High level monsters begin showing up and can only be defeated by the twin brother's bracelet. This anime is in super deformed and the characters actually play the game more compared to .hack//Sign. I never really got into it. It just reminded me too much of the mess of "Welcome to Lodoss".
.hack//LIMINALITY - A kid becomes comatose while playing in the World. It's up to his friend in the physical world to try to bring him out of the coma. After watching my friend's copies, I could care less of what happens in the physical world. The first 2 episodes were a waist of time, and its only 4 episodes long.
