I heard Cameron produced a TV series for Fox called "Dark Angel" a while back that resembled Battle Angel Alita. I think he may have bought it so he could create the show without any legal disputes. The title of said show is even similar.

I've seen the tv series and it was horrible it didn't have anything to do with Battle Angel Alita at all. Oh there's been news on James Cameron finally doing he Battle Angel movie saw this news on this site unless it's proven false James Cameron bought the title rights to make the movie and not that crappy tv series called Dark Angel.

When I watched that show I kept assuming that Battle Angel Alita was Cameron's inspiration, but that show was produced I think before ADV lost the rights, and well, the rumors about the movie have been going since. I don't see how ADV could lose the rights to disto the anime to a show that as just a couple things that resemble it. |

There are 2 used DVD's on eBay right now. They could get expensive. It is a very collectible classic now.

Here is the ebay search for the DVD's - when I did the search there was one going for 41$US with 2 days left in the auction.

Thus my regret for not buying it on DVD a long time ago...
This was one of titles I was exposed to early on in my fandom. I really did enjoy it and often wonder now why I didn't rush to get it when I still had the chance. Ah well, someday the license will probably be renewed and it will be re-released. |

You know, i ran into this same problem not too long ago. I ended up finding a copy in amazon.com's new and used section, but i wanted to get it cheaper... so i went to ebay. All i can say is that it didn't take long for the price to jump higher than i wanted, so i bought it from amazon.com.
Here is the link to the Battle Angel DVD. Just click on "new and used." Currently there are 4 being sold with the cheapest at $49.99 If the above link doesn't show the new and used section, try this one. |

yup, ADV discontinued Alita many moons ago and Right Stuf bought all the the remaining dvd stock from ADV (They warehouse a lot of ADV's oddball vhs/dvd) But, it didn't take long before they all evaporated.
Perhaps you could try being a different region? |

Its pretty cool that James Cameron likes to watch anime. I hope he does good job with Gunnm-the Movie
![]() I also hope he makes Ghost in the Shell live action film. I read his review on it and he sounded amazed by GITS. |

I wish Cameron was as excited about producing his shows as he likes to talk about them...
