What an unexpected treat! I love Kyou Machiko's works and Cocoon is easily one of my favourites from her. Contrary to the delicate, whimsical art, the contents are absolutely brutal though. Wonder if they'll skip over some of the particularly grim body horror considering it'll air on NHK.

So is this something similar to In This Corner of the World? If so then I'm in.

Oooh, I was just looking up the manga the other day! Consider me sold! I can't wait to watch this! I should probably read the manga and see what it's like too.

Could you please add the anime to the Encyclopedia?

People will expect a humanist story in tough times and will then get 2 hours of no levity, gore, suicide, rape and a named character body-count percentage that eclipses most horror. I´ll just assume that this will be a TV film. The darkest WW2 anime has not taken its crown. This is an NHK production as it´s impossible to get people into theaters with this so government funding it is.

The manga´s biggest issue is the sketchy art and a lack of backgrounds that makes it impossible to get attached. An actual art style being applied will work wonders.

Sounds like an engaging and heartbreaking story.
