Holy crap! No one saw this coming. This group of individuals together is too powerful. I can only imagine the crowd reactions now.

My teen self is rejoicing! If only I can even watch their concert....
But before this, for extra info, SKIN was created but instead of HYDE, GACKT was the vocalist of the band. It is definitely a great choice to have HYDE as the vocalist. Nearly both vocalists have the same tone, but the range... definitely HYDE has a higher range.

I might have been excited about this if it weren't for the fact this this could end up being the final nail in the coffin for the release of the new X Japan album, at least in the near future. At this point Yoshiki seems to be taking a page out of the Chinese Democracy or Winds of Winter book (I've been waiting 15 years for this new record, by my count). I also don't get why X don't tour internationally more often given the size of their global fandom.
EDIT: I meant "page", not "book", and fixed a few other typos.

As much as I love hyde and Sugizo, to be honest both my teen and young adult self who were hugely into JRock back in the '90s and early '00s, find this kind of cringe. Probably it's the title of the tour. Or how they're not really in the same... I dunno, weight class, I guess? Musically, I mean? Or just some of the people involved? Anyway, this is just IMO of course, more power to them, and all. But... yeah. I think I'm just going to stick to my CDs. (Well, rips, considering I have no CD player anymore.) orz

The other thing is that this is arguably a "supergroup" and those rarely end up being impressive, regardless of the individual talent involved, because a band has to be more than the sum of its parts in order to have a unique vision and identity. I don't know about hyde and Sugizo (in terms of current musical output) but as much as I respect Yoshiki, I'm sure I'm not the only X fan who wishes he would actually tour and release new music with his main band rather than forming myriad side projects (doing both at the same time is obviously fine, but not when that involves teasing a new album for over a decade and expecting to be taken seriously). It's still a good thing for JRock overall, though.

True, but I would personally have loved to see GACKT.
I'm not familiar with MIYAVI. Any suggestions from fans?

Is this the real life version of Gentlemen from Eternal Boys? (yes, I know their musical styles are very different, just noting their ages (41-57) and longevity in the business).

Hehehe, i am a fan! If we're talking about recent works, as an actor, you can catch him on movies such as Kate and the live action of Bleach. He made his debut in Hollywood directed by Angelina Jolie, Unbroken... and also made a cameo in Maleficent 2.
When it comes to the music industry, he is actually GACKT's kouhai. Firstly known to be a killer bassist, he became popular during his time with Due le quartz... but of course it was disbanded. Before his break in the US, his songs are Japanese. There are actually a lot of songs that, in my opinion, is killer guitar and filled with experimentalism. I'd say.. you listen to these songs:
Selfish Love (Definitely the highlight is the introduction)
Sakihokoru Hana no Yo ni
Girls, be ambitious
素晴らしきかな、この世界-WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD-
When he started to transition, he stripped down to mainly just drums and his guitar, and went on from there
SURVIVE
What's My Name?
Guard You
Of course his style is different now, more electric you could say... and his lyrics are a mix of Japanese and English! Here are some songs I can recommend:
Holy Nights
Fragile
Here are some collabs with other Japanese artists:
DAOKO featuring MIYAVI - Diner
MIYAVI vs Daichi Miura - Dancing With My Fingers

I guess that's one way of looking at it.

Thanks for the recommendations! I will definitely check out these tracks. I had no idea Miyavi was an actor in Unbroken (which I watched back in the day, but can barely remember).
Looking back at my previous comments I feel that they may have come across as a little harsh. I definitely loved Yoshiki and hyde's collaboration on "Red Swan" for AoT and I would love to hear them make more music like this and get the chance to see these musicians live. I just wish this didn't mean having to wait even longer for the new X Japan album and tour (which will very likely be the case).
