That’s an awful thing to hear about. I like him as a voice actor, but I gotta say, this really makes me lower my opinion of him significantly.

This imbecile going to possibly cost his position as Cloud by being an absolute idiot in his personal life. I don't know what goes on in your personal life, but at least have the decency to resolve things with some respect.

The staff member not knowing Sakurai was married reminds of that one dumb and historical inaccurate plot of the 1998 Elizabeth movie where Elizabeth's advisor tell her she cannot marry her lover Robert Dudley, the Earl of Leicester, as he's already married. Heartbroken upon learning the truth, Elizabeth breaks up with Robert for lying and keeping his marriage a secret to her.
The reason I say this plot is dumb was the fact in real life, since Robert was a noble, everyone knew he was married including Elizabeth, who continue having an affair with Robert regardless since they both love each other. Plus both of them never got married due to various reasons like Robert's family was involved in a plot against the royal family in the past and the suspicious way on how Robert's wife died. |

Every time I hear about a complete piece of shit like this, I always think about a famous quote by Paul Newman: “I don't like to discuss my marriage, but I will tell you something which may sound corny but which happens to be true. I have steak at home. Why should I go out for hamburger?”

Oh no. I can't believe this. Not Sakurai. This hits hard. On top of that, the woman he was with quit when she found out then went to the hospital. And the way that he did it.... I'm speechless. I know Tetsuya Nomura is feeling a certain way about this because he chose Sakurai to voice Cloud in Kingdom Hearts, which led to Advent Children and the rest of FF to this day. To Nomura, he is Cloud. Once again, cheating affects the lives of others and it can't be defended.
Please. You keep making this mistake. Sakurai first voiced Cloud in Kingdom Hearts in 2002. He first voiced Cloud in Final Fantasy 7 in its sequel Advent Children in 2005. It should be Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy 7 series. Simply putting Final Fantasy VII when the game came out in 1997 plus not voiced and Sakurai's first video game role was after that clearly makes the statement wrong.
Except there is no cost. Daisuke Namikawa confirmed his affair in 2017 then continued as if nothing happened to earn back his fans trust. He voiced in Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV DLC in 2019, which are Square Enix games. Sakurai's position as Cloud is clearly not affected by this unless Sakurai chooses to stop voicing Cloud. |

It's one thing for him to cheat on his wife, that's already scummy enough, but to lead another woman on for 10 years and send her to the hospital out of shock because she had no idea you were married? Even scummier.

I would like to say: A shame that it will ruin his career. But then where do you draw a line at morally reprehensibly acts that will cause you to be justifiably out of work. In the past in the west such affairs would ruin your career instead of turn you into a bad boy who can come back 1 year later.

Probably the same thing that happened to Tatsuhisa Suzuki. He's a very good VA and his personal relationships should be no one else's concern apart from the people effectively involved; his wife and lover. I hope they don't fire him, but well, I suppose that many will decide to stop working with him. |

It's gonna be way less than Ta2 though, considering the conditions surrounding him and how big Sakurai name is in the seiyuudom. If anything, he ends like Daisuke Namikawa - with a little slap on the wrist, but people barely remember what he ever done after a while. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Suzuki take a year long hiatus where all his roles were replaced? That's a possibility. |

Again, Ta2 case was so primarily wild because of his circumstances, let alone that he ended up in hospital after that, so his replacement was inevitable anyway - and he's still getting roles nowadays like Kingdom and Record of Ragnarok.
