Huh. Grand Jump's definitely a smaller audience than WSM, and she'd spent most of an 11-year period writing for the latter. Wonder why the hop?

Yeah, weird right. And GJ demographic is targeted more to Japanese salarymen (40+). But why not Evening? Still the same demographic, same bi-weekly, and its on Kodansha. I also wonder why the hop to Shueisha.

I'm just kind of curious what the premise is...couple straight out who have secrets from each other?

Kei Sasuga is excellent at drawing female characters, and absolutely terrible in every facet of writing (just my opinion of course), so I'm sure this will be another beautiful trainwreck.

I wonder as well but I do guess your current publisher at least gets (through courtesy or contractual) right of first refusal. Shueisha could have wanted her to continue drawing shounen or there might have been other disagreements about the direction of the new series or working conditions, leading to Sasuga pitching the series to other publishers.
Evening has 48k circulation while Grand Jump has 110k. Coming from Weekly Shounen Magazine with 463k, both are a step down but Evening might have been too small for Sasuga's renown.
